#SteemLords - The Rangers defeat an Ogre, arrive at Edoras and receive help from King Theoden.

I hope everyone has been enjoying these stories as much as I enjoy writing them. This has igniting a very old passion in me. It brings me back to when time was plentiful and I would write for fun in my spare time. Anyways I did some looking around and it looks like there’s a huge community to people writing here on Steemit and hope to get involved there once this quest is over. I will be incorporating some elements from a Story Cubes Contest I came across here. If anyone wants to suggest any other writing or story tags for me to follow as well please leave any suggestions.

On with the #Steemlords tale at hand.

Sir Pheli’s heart still ached from the events of the morning and the loss of Baroness Bearone. Read here. He pulled his furs on tight to shake the chill, the orc armour didn’t fit properly, but it was all they had found. The Rangers were ill prepared for journey to meet King Theoden, with the axes and armour from slain orc and plundered cooking tools from the wreckage of the vessel. Sir Silvernova was armed with kitchen knives and claimed to have an eastern fighting style that didn’t require weapons or armour. Sir Muxxy carried the second orc axe, he seemed to have no qualms brandishing the weapon the killed the dear Baroness. Lastly Princess Loki remained behind the group in the woods, she was still plague by the nudity curse, and her presence was too much of a distraction to the knights.

Luckily for the Rangers to journey to Edoras was quite unexceptional. The only problem continued to be the nudity curse, poor Princess Loki had sustained many minor abrasions where you don’t want to be abraded.

Shortly before arriving at Edoras, they stumbled upon a lone Ogre. He was feasting on some sort of small burrowing short-legged, muscular quadrapedal marsupial. It was the Rangers first challenge together; they all thought and came up with an overly elaborate plan.

Sir Pheli and Sir Muxxy each took position in the woods by the trail.

Sir Silvernova and Princess Loki walked up the trial like weary travelers.

The Ogre noticed them and grunted “fee-fi fo-fum, I shall grind your bones to make my bread”

Sir Silvernova chortled at this “Isn’t that what giants say? Where is your beanstalk?” perhaps Sir Silvernova was still feeling a little invincible from whatever he keeps putting in his damn pipe, but he totally “dropped the ball” on the plan.

This comment seamed to enrage the Ogre, although it did not seem overly offensive to the Rangers. He threw the animal carcass at Sir Silvernova and picked up his club. Perhaps Sir Silvernova did know some sort of ancient eastern fighting style. He was quite limber and quick, evading the attack from the Ogre.

With this Sir Pheli and Sir Muxxy emerged from bushes. They striked quickly with the axes, hacking at the large creature but proving ineffective. The Ogre advanced on the knights.

Princess Loki saw an opportunity. Taking a knife from Sir Silvernova she leapt onto the shoulders of the Ogre. It wasn’t going to be that easy. The Ogre trashed and bucked and the Princess hung on for dear life. With this sight the knights could no longer control their laughter. The nude princess was being swung wildly. Like some sort of ill-conceived botched bawdy burlesque bull-riding bungle. Finally she regained her balance and still somehow clutching the knife thrust it into the neck of the Ogre.

“Crash” It has been defeated.

The princess approached the still giggling knights. Red faced a mixture of rage and embarrassment. “Not a word to anyone, I saved your hides there!”

The knights stiffened up, it was no time to mess with the princess now.

When they arrived at Edoras, Sir Pheli spoke for the group. He explained the quest for Excalibur and the messages from SirKnight that brought them all here. Luckily the name @SirKnight carries great weight across MiddleSteem and they were granted and audience with the King. They told the King of their mission to Mirkwood to meet with the rest of the party’s on the quest for Excalibur. They were able to make a deal.

The King was able to provide proper supplies for the Rangers journey. He provided maps and guidance on how to best navigate the route ahead, but was unable to provide any manpower as he was currently facing his own battles with the orcs who were terrorizing the villages of Rohan. He was also able to summon Gandalf’s presence who was able to quickly dispatch the troublesome nudity curse.

The Rangers feasted with the King, enjoyed proper lodgings and once again prepared for the next step of the adventure.
