Moonstone & Sterling Silver Pendant

in steemmakers •  7 years ago  (edited)

I've just finished this pendant, it features a lovely piece of Moonstone and is part of a range of smaller items. I'm trying to build up a collection of more affordable pieces.

When working with Silver I generally do a bit more planning before I begin wrapping as the material is obviously more valuable than my usual medium of choice, copper. Here you can see I've laid down a couple of wires in copper, just to see how the design will look before committing to it in silver.

Here she is finished after a quick polish, I may oxidise the metal a little to bring out the details in the wrap and the lighter coloured stone.

This is up for sale, I'll put it on Etsy in the next couple of days if it hasn't sold through other channels. Happy to take Steem or paypal. Priced at £55 plus shipping.

The piece featured in yesterdays post has already sold in record time! You can check it out here - https://steemit.com/steemmakers/@robali123/moonstone-and-copper-wire-wrap-pendant

Dude! That's BEAUTIFUL. I bet you'd get A LOT of money for that on Dead Lot.

Thanks! What is dead lot? I think someones mentioed it before. Ive done a quick google but it just comes up with grateful dead websites!

Dead lot is the parking lot or an area outside of a Grateful Dead show. It's usually where you'll find Shakedown St where you could peddle and barter your wares and services or just make friends and family for life.

Your jewel making skills are awesome! That is for sure part of the great stuff @steemmakers needs to feature in our channel!! Keep it up with your great work!

thanks! ive been on here a while, its nice to finally be picking up some steem (pun intented!)

You do lovely work with the jewelry. Thanks for sharing. 😊

That looks really great!

Is there any chance that you have a post on how you crated the fine details on that pendant?

Ah actually started a post on how to make the coil bits then abandoned it cus i thought it was a bit niche and perhaps boring! I will finish it for you and drop you a tag!

Thanks! I am looking forward to it!

It takes talent to visualize and execute such work. If I may just ask what are some of the inspirations of your creation?

I'm not really sure what i'd sight as inspiration really. the works of HR Giger perhaps, ive always liked the biomechanical designs of his. the mix of organic shapes with industrial or manmade materials is something i enjoy exploring.
its a bit cheesy but i guess id also have to say nature! im outside a lot most days so plenty to take inspiration from.
thanks for the thought provoking question, its got me thinking!
