Introduction:
This is the first story I write for this type of contest, I am very happy to have participated because I think it is a way to see what my level of writing is like. I apologize for the presence of any orthographic errors but English is not my language. I hope you like it.
The wind blew hard, inflating the ship's sails and dragging it off the coast.
Jim the pirate wasn't sure where they were going, but his captain had told him that he would soon find out and trust his captain.
He had joined the brigand crew for about 6 months and there, on that ship, he felt at home for the first time in many years.
He had never understood what it really meant to have a family until then.
When he was child his parents had left him alone and for this reason he had been forced to live in the street ... it was not an easy life. He had spent many nights curled up on rags by the side of the road, suffering from hunger and cold, wondering if it was his fault, his parents had left him alone.
He lived that life for a few years until one day he met an old lady who took care of him like a son.
He thought he would be safe forever, but unfortunately on his seventeenth birthday the old lady died leaving him alone.
Jim returned to live on the street and there one day he met the captain.
He had heard many people tell of his adventures and Jim was immediately fascinated.
He was the most famous pirate of all the seas, his name inspired terror in the hearts of sailors and if anyone had ever had the misfortune to cross his ship it was better that he had surrendered otherwise he would have died in atrocious suffering.
But the captain was also a good man in his own way, attacking only the ships of the rich, delivering most of the loot to poor families, considering his crew as his family and he would die to defend it.
So it was that for the second time in his life Jim found someone who would take him with him, saving him from the life of unease he was destined for if he had been forced to live on the street.
The captain gave him a family, a bed to sleep on, but above all taught him to throw with a bow, Jim discovered that he was the best archer in the crew and over time he was nicknamed the pirate archer.
"Look pirate archer" said the Captain, pointing with a finger over the bow of the ship, "we have arrived"
Jim looked in the direction indicated, at first he was disappointed because he could not see anything but then in the distance he saw a small brown spot.
When he was close enough he could figure out what it was ... Thousands of ships had been piled up against each other forming a kind of giant raft.
"What is it? said Jim, frowning.
"This is our home... welcome to floating city, the refuge of all pirates"
