After my disappointment with my earlier efforts today... I thought I'd bring it back to some pixel art that takes far less problem solving...
Square structures are significantly easier than anything with circles, especially when you're trying to work out the viewpoint. With square structures, straight lines are obviously pretty easy to control, and all the angles are all the same... so this storage facility really only requires patience.
I did some more research, and decided to remove the black outlines where the structure meets the ground, which I think works a lot better when intergrating with the ground. The other thing I thought I'd try was adding some shadows. Both are a lot more obvious when I remove the ground... (which I only used as a guide, SteemMoon wants all backgrounds to be transparent).
I realise it's the least exciting pixel art ever, and now that I look at it in this post, looks way too much like an NES but at this point I'd just like to get some art on the project so other contributors have more reference material for scale, shading, etc. Also, creating this was super relaxing...
This is the actual size that I'll add onto SteemMoon.
The purple/'electric violet' stripes are taken from the Steem.com branding page:
Anyway, if you're interested in contributing to the SteemMoon project, here is the Posting Guidelines, but feel free to ask any questions.
