Steem Ocean's Index Period is Now 4 Days Due to Massive Amounts of Data Being Processed & Bandwidth Being Used!

Steem Ocean scans the Steem blockchain every 24 hours to grab statistics about voting behaviour that has recently taken place. The aim is to provide useful insights into voting patterns and account activity that is difficult to find elsewhere. The increased traffic on the Steem network has meant that the data usage of Steem Ocean has reached epic levels.. So I have had to reign in it's data processing for now..

Steem Ocean is hosted on a high performance server account that provides 3TB of data transfer (bandwidth) per month. Ordinarily that is plenty for most projects, but Steem Ocean is a bit different! Steem Ocean analyses data that is only found within fields in the Steem blockchain's data that also contain large amounts of text and when this fact is combined with the processing of every comment written to the blockchain by every user during the indexing period - the result is pretty epic data transfer occurring ever 24 hours.

Steem Ocean now causes the server to exceed its 3TB monthly limit and this is just from processing 1 week's worth of data at a time. I am currently investigating options for preventing this huge data transfer, but for now I have had to shorten the length of time that Steem Ocean Indexes to 4 days instead of 7. This will drop the data usage enough that the server doesn't exceed it's monthly limits.

I will let you know of any change to this as I know more. From tomorrow, the Steem Ocean data will be based on only 4 days of data.
