The Art of Doodling! And the Psychology Behind It

in steemph •  7 years ago

Hello, my fellow steemians! How are you peeps been doing? I hope all of you are having a great time doing what we love best. I have been feeling a bit dried out - artistically speaking. Like I said before, my artistic side comes and goes depending on what is usually happening to me at that certain time. Well, one artistic thing that I am always doing is doodling. I know that a lot of us do this and we don't even consider this as art, but it is! Not only that but there is a psychology behind what we are doodling at the moment.

I spent two weeks to complete this doodle all done when I was feeling pressured at work.

  • Faces

Doodling faces means that you either see the good in others or you see the good in yourself.

  • Checkered

A checkered pattern symbolizes patience or if you are prone to mood swings.

  • Stars

There is a reason why we have a saying "reach for the stars". Doodling stars means that you are thinking about your goals or ambitions. It can also mean you are thinking about someone you love as you want to give them the stars.

  • Names and Initials

The person whose name you doodle is the one in your mind. Either you love them or you consider them a problem that you need to solve. Doodling your initials meanwhile represent wanting to break away from your family and doing your own thing.

  • Hearts

Do I need to explain this? Of course it means that you are in love with someone romatically. If not then maybe you are a vampire? LOL

  • Flowers

We may think that flowers are also for romantic love but it is mostly familial love. If the petals on your flower is rounded then it should mean that you are satisfied with your family situation. Flowers with thorns or pointy petals mean that you are a romantic deep inside but you hide it behind defensivenes. Wilted flowers mean stress and burden.

  • Cars, Boats, Or Planes

Any mode of transportation symbolizes the desire to escape something.

  • Butterflies, Birds, Or Bees

Doodling any of these three means that you are not ready to be tied down just yet or you don't want to be given a big responsibility.

  • Ladders

You have an organized plan to achieve your goal when you're doodling ladders and you are prepared to follow that plan meticulously.

  • House

A doodle of a house is a cry for security. This is why most childre draw this. A house on a hill means you feel isolated.

  • Squares and Boxes

A doodle of a square means that you want to take control of something while doodling a cube means that you have an analytical mind and you are efficient at solving something.

  • Arrows

Arrows point the way to a specific goal. Straight and angular arrows means that the goal is very important and curvy arrows with designs means that the goal is something close to heart and the doodler is passionate about.

  • Spiders Web or Net

Of course this means a feeling of being trapped.

  • Zigzags

This doodle shows a lot of energy and the desire to move on.

  • Stick Figures

This shows a person that is very focused and has a lot of self control. Most successful people draw this kind of doodle.

  • Intricate Patterns

Extreme introverts or people that are very obssesive usually draw this doodle. This can also be drawn by people who don't want to let go of something.

My latest doodle and I am still thinking if it is already finished or I will add more details to it.

I usually doodle when I am feeling overwhelmed with work or when I am trying to stay awake. How about you guys? What do you usually doodle and when do you doodle?

Keep doodling on!!
