There are many festivals in Myanmar all the year round. We can enjoy a seasonal festival every month. As a result, Myanmar in called as the land of festival. The well-known festivals are the Thadingut festival, The Thazaundaing festival and the Thingyan festival. The Thingyan festival is also called as the water festival.
Among these festivals, I like the Thingyan festival or the water festival most. In addition, the Thingyan festival is also the merriest and most popular one in Myanmar. It usually falls on the13th April and last for four or five days. Everyone welcomes the new year warmly by doing good deeds. Most of the Myanmar people, young and old, take part in this festival. During the festival day, old people go to keeping Sabbath and doing meritorious deeds. Young people wash the images of Lord Buddha with perfumed water. During the festival, young people and children throw one another with water. They wash the impurities of the old year with water and welcome the new year with pure mind and body. They enjoyable occasion is a wonderful time for children and youths. They go all round the town with jeeps or trucks and do singing, dancing and shouting slogans. Some tree one another and make jokes. There are also lots of pandas on both sides of streets or roads. The most exciting sight and activities can be seen during this festival. Even foreigner take part in throwing water.
In addition, young people wash the hair of elders as a good deed and cut their nails. They free the live fishes in lakes, streams and rivers. This behavior is the beautiful and lovely custom or culture of Myanmar. As for me, I go to Mandalay and always take part in the Mandalay Thingyan Festival every year. To sum up, I can that the Thingyan Festival is the most enjoyable festival in Myanmar.
