When classified academically

Herb refers to the leaves and flowers of plants.
Spice refers to everything including trees and fruits.

今日は、スパイスとハーブの違いのお話です。
areuspicyのブログを書き始めて間もない頃に、スパイスとハーブの違いについては、お話していたのですが過去記事参照、先日の講座で受けた説明が分かりやすくて、すんなり理解できたので、あえて復習かねて説明。

スパイスとハーブってセットにされることが多いです、S&B食品は代表的ですし、通信講座もスパイス＆ハーブというものが多いです。似て非なるものだと自分では思っています。
学術的に分類すると

ハーブは、植物の葉や花の部分をさします。
スパイスは、木、実を含めた全部のことをさします。

こうなるみたいです。
図で理解すると一発。

今後、葉ものもスパイス講座として説明していこうと思っていて、その時に、え？それハーブでしょっと混乱しないように、ここで説明してみました。ハーブはスパイスの一部ということを頭の片隅に^^　ここテストに出ますよ（笑）
