Preface: I have been a Medium user for quite a few years but have never posted anything there. I'd like to host the article here in a website that's mine for posterity as well as reach to you my dear readers.
I’ve been writing for more than a year now. But never really on Medium.com.
Perhaps it’s because the level of quality content I consume on the platform gave me an impression that this place is for the “big guys”, veteran writers, experts, though-leaders all that..
But evidently it’s not. I’ve come to truly take at face value what Medium stands for. A place to express without restriction and censorship, a haven for publishing musings and thoughts from the most seemingly random to the utterly controversial. Guess I’ll be falling on the the former end of the spectrum.
And so, here you have it. A random post from a guy in a third world country that no one has yet to know about. Perhaps I can find solace in this fact.. That there is at least a place for me to say what I think and not be heard. At least having that freedom is disproportionately better that having my mouth shut.
In case you want to know, I am an ex industrial drone pilot turned blogger/unemployed (it was on my on volition) to try my hands at writing in a world where most content are consumed lazily in Viral Video forms and Musically snippets; can’t see how it’ll go wrong there!
Where I come from has a unique and noteworthy relationship with Medium.com.
That’s it, for a good 3 years [Medium] website was banned where I’m from. All over a journalistic revelation of a corruption scandal involving our former Prime Minister; in which following Malaysia’s tectonic regime change, we discovered that it’s way worst that what was reported anyway..
I was one still a lurker back then, for a few more good years before I do anything on here. I think by the time I published my first Medium comment, I was already writing somewhat consistently.
Owh where else do I write?
Steemit
I should say that if Medium.com was powered by a blockchain that has it’s own token, where each claps corresponds to rewards from all types of users regardless of whether an author is a Partner or not, Has it’s whole key database hosting and maintenance outsourced to anyone who can set up a server, and a phenomenal monetary system to drive a blockchain powered economy based on people who create content online. That would be Steemit, an MVP of the open source Blockchain STEEM.
My first article written online was literally written there. Something that changed the course of my life in ways I never thought possible. Never would I think I would be someone who loves writing even for the heck it. Much less potentially being able to make a living off doing it. (Medium Partner Program one day, huh?)
Being someone who’s written random articles without purpose there for over a year now, publishing posts on there 3 times a week on average. I’d say I have a certain expectation on how well I write on here. It’s Medium.com after all. I have to give my best. Even if no one will read this post on Medium.
So why on Medium?
Simple, diversification.
I aim to go full steam into writing. Heck, I’ve already gotten myself a personal top level domain name website named narcissistically after myself. Which was done after some painful capital investment put in, I know it’s worth it though.
And of course we all know that as it stands now, there’s no better place to showcase one’s writing and get as much legitimacy and reach as Medium.com. It’s the undisputed writer’s haven. Used by the best and yet accessible to everyone else. I just don’t see why I won’t get on this platform as a next step and a challenge as I do this thing. The Game is totally different on here but it pays very well to do good here as a writer, that much is true.
And perhaps, who knows, I can get few writers to know of Steemit.com along the way and join me there too! Diversification is best after all, right?
Here’s to my first post! I know no one will read it, and I’m okay with that. Till next time.

You've inspired me to get started writing on Medium.com too! I've checked out the Medium Partner Program a few days ago. Sucks that Stripe isn't available in Malaysia yet but I think if we build our portfolios ahead of time when it does reach Malaysia we'll be ready to tap on Medium's broad reach =)

As of now I don't think to get into the Partner's Program yet, for one I don't think my writing is there yet and another is that I know I can profit just from the attention itself if I do things right.
I didn't know medium pays through Stripe, I thought they'd do it with PayPal. Well, it won't be long before they made it possible to get 3rd world countries' citizen to join in.
I remembered many years ago I was a part of this Paid-to-click/microtask site and got absolutely blasted for suggesting payment using Bitcoin, even by Malaysians there.
Today bitcoin payment is all the rage there.

clicked? what do you mean?
If you want to ask were those pictures taken by me, then no. It was a CC0 picture that does not require me to attribute them (in fact i did attribute them on the original article, it didn't get migrated here via Steempress).
I didn't see myself doing anything illegal here.
What are you implying?
