Over the years Qualcomm has undoubtedly created an impact in the smartphone market in terms of processing. It's Snapdragon Chipset is the most used Chipset on premium devices.
This year is not different, they continue living up to expectations by stunning us with mindblowing developments. This year's Snapdragon 865 is very much different from the processors of the previous years.
What's new?
- 5G support: Qualcomm brought I'm5G to its peak performance, with the Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF System you can get a multi-gigabit speed of up to 7.5Gbps. That's not all it also supports all key regions and frequency bands from 5G mmWave and sub-6, TDD and FDD, to SA and NSA modes.
- Advanced on-device AI: With the new Hexagon DSP(Tensor Accelerator), Qualcomm claims to have achieved is 2x more performance than its predecessor, It performs up to 15 trillion operations per second with maximum efficiency. This gives users good mobile experience in photography, gaming and voice interactions such as real-time AI translation.
- Qualcomm Sensing Hub: The new sensing hub which is directly integrated into the AI engine ensures highly accurate voice detection and always-on contextual awareness for smarter virtual assistants.....all while using extremely low power.
- Advanced photography at gigapixel speed: Qualcomm really put much work into photography, with the new Spectra 480 ISP sensor, professional photos and videos are taken at up to 2 gigapixels per second. This doesn't stop here Qualcomm Spectra 480 ISP also includes features like Dolby Vision video capture, 8K video recording, capture 200-megapixel photos, and simultaneously capture 4K HDR video and 64 MP photos.
- Desktop-level gaming features: The new snapdragon 865 is built to bring us with a desktop-like rendering for realistic images, this gives users great gaming experience. This time Qualcomm has provided us with an updateable driver, the first ever on mobile.
- Improved performance and battery life: the new Chipset offers 25% more performance than its predecessor and the improved AI saves more battery for power-intensive tasks. Plus, Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ AI technology checks battery health and safety to help extend battery life cycles up to 200 days.
Qualcomm made it mandatory for all phones to integrate the Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF System, with this all premium devices using the snapdragon 865 will support 5G. Thinking about it, with the latest 5G development streaming 4K games on Google stadia will be an easy task.
The gigapixel speed will really in photography, improving low latency portrait shots and video. The 8k recording is superb, with your smartphone you can record studio-like videos without difficulty.
The snapdragon 865 is an interesting development, we will be expecting it in almost every high-end phone from 2020.
