what was 2019 about?

Our feelings about crypto 2019 are mixed. We do not see any clear directions making us confident for the future. Despite some adoption here and there, crypto did not shake of it's shady side, mainly brought on to it by the ICO aera (mainly 2017/18). Bitcoin itself is in too few big hands to be resilient to manipulation. There is no transparent obvious path for any crypto.

No good Dapps were developed during 2019 (from a market perspective that is). Crypto did not break any grounds during the year. That DeFi and margin and futures came in does not really change the game that much. At least so far that failed to pull new blood in. The market cap of crypto is dramatically low if compared to what growth was expected. The performance of alts over the board was bad. People don't put their money in, do not trust it. Our expectations about crypto are not high for 2020. Enough to stay in, alway skeeping in mind that market cap under 200 billion still is no past a point of no return. Too many exit scenario's still valid. Too many players that, with a small agreement between them, can destroy the market overnight.

A funny thing happened in December. The internet is full of crypto guru channels on YouTube. Most of these channels live by google ads and affiliate marketing. The level is disapointing in most cases. Google shut down a couple of them and immediately they took the martyrdom going with that and posed as freedom fighters... We do not like or want censorship - but the truth is that many of these cryptochannels are shameless attempts to be paid by viewer stupidity. Nothing lost when 90% of these channels disappear. Let Cryptmove be clear on some points. We are in this market because we hope investments in it will pay off (the greed or profit factor, up to you what you call it) and because we want to be savants on new technology applications (in the same way we adopted the fax machine). All charity and ideological issues in crypto do not have any relevance and people that use that to promote crypto are either completely stupid or completely cyinical (and insincere).

Big inflated ego's are a part of the so called crypto space. It's a sales tactic only. These people make a living of OTHER PEOPLE that they lure into crypto. There are some good projects around however. Often these projects don't shout out too much. The case for blockchain remains an interesting case in the market.

2019 was not a great year for crypto. No real direction set for 2020. The only way to stay without loss in this market is to be on top of everything. Be out in time - over stablecoins or other. The hodl thing is not very rational. It is a belief. Lots of coins/tokens go only one direction: down.

Keeping track and following hypes are two completely different things. Some crypto makes very tired: follow us on twitter (main stream centralized), YouTube (same), instagram (same), Telegram (same), LinkedIn (same). Not a lot of Internet 3 & not a lot of difference between ordinary marketing and how crypto markets itself. Main stream money rules also the crypto game.

We do not advice how to follow crypto: we just have come to a conclusion that the hypes and many YouTube channels are not a good guide. Unless you are with inside knowledge in some pump and dump schemes. Most people are not. The normal procedure is to find retail investors (suckers) for the way up and turn them into bagholders on the way down. They target the feeling hip sentiment along with fomo.

Stay away from the technical confusion! Chains that integrate other chains, chains that have a higher tps: the market just doesn't really care. Because there are no (d)applications benefiting from it. It might be interesting for blockchain developers, but not at all for investors and not even for real users. It is true that scalability is an issue, but it is not your issue. Ever since VHS/Betamax you should know that having the best technology does not mean you create the best adoption.

2019 shows a market where most value just evaporates. Why should 2020 be very different? Be careful out there.
