A Basic Guide to a Hamster’s Diet

in steempress •  6 years ago  (edited)

It is an undeniable fact that hamsters are lovely pets and easier to care for than dogs or cats. This doesn’t mean, though, that they don’t need any care at all. As with any pet, its important to pay attention to what your hamster eats so that he stays healthy and will have the best possible quality of life.

These little fur balls are omnivorous, which means in addition to fruits and vegetables, they need meat in their diets.

Did you know that in their natural habitat, hamsters eat insects, frogs, and even lizards?

The wider selection of food in nature means that the wild hamster’s diet is much richer in nutrients and proteins than your pet’s with consists of either just sunflower seeds or a processed mix.

Certain insects that we use in our Roast Grubs, like the Black Soldier Fly Larvae are rich in proteins - 43% - to be exact1. The larvae manufacture proteins from the food and store as much of these nutrients as possible before turning into a pupa and become flies.

So next time you want to give your hamster a treat, why not give him some OMNI Grubs hamster food which includes these larvae? Your little hamster will be even more healthy!
