Steempress -- Publish From Your Wordpress Blog

in steempress •  6 years ago  (edited)
If you're anything like me and once upon a time ago had one or more Wordpress blogs that have been abandoned in favour of posting more on STEEM than anywhere else, you may want to reconsider that. The team at @steempress-io have been working on creating a solution to allow us to do that through a WP plugin. This post is my first use of the feature.

One of the benefits I love about being able to post to my WP blog and have it appear on the Steem platform is I can organize my content here on my blog while getting the benefits of the Steem platform. I love writing on Steem but we don't have the same ability to organize our work into categories like on a WP blog.

For now, I wont be able to put as much of my Steem writings on my WP blog as I would like as I write on three accounts currently on Steem but can only register one account in the Steempress plugin. A future feature of the plugin may allow multiple account registrations but that may take some time. For now, only my @shadowspub writings will end up coming off the WP blog.

One of the other benefits of posting on a WP blog which sends it to Steem is my evergreen writing will be easier to find on the WP blog. I will also have greater flexibility with what I do, like adding ads to my WP blog that would not be able to run on my Steem account.

Not everything is likely to be easy peasy as I have posts setup as templates in Scrivener and I need to figure if I can recreate the templates here in Wordpress. I use a very flexible theme, so, hopefully I should be able to. Just going to take some learning.

Really cool. And glad to know about this plugin as I have over a dozen blogs. Will look into utilizing. Thanks for sharing @shadowspub

going to be fun getting used to it. The developer continues to work on the kinks so that is pretty cool too

Wow, I will totally start using this @shadowspub. This is an amazing tool if it's as easy to use as I envision it.

My one worry is formatting. I'm a bit of a format-nut on Steemit (like how I formatted our giveaway post today), and I'm a bit worried at first that using a plugin like this would mess up the formatting.

If I remember right, Wordpress blogs don't use the same markdown that Steemit does, so I don't think it could be the exact same content if I want to keep my tables/separators/headers/footers the way I like to on Steemit.

How have you found that? Looking at the Wordpress version of this blog, the formatting seems fine, and I notice the Steemit version has more pictures and a few extra phrases near the bottom, so I imagine that means the plugin lets you add "Wordpress Specific" and "Steemit Specific" parts to a blog, which would be awesome.

Thanks for the heads up about this plugin! I used to have a wordpress blog, but I don't anymore. My personal website CarsonRoscoe.com is a wordpress website, and I was debating posting my Steemit blogs on there (the personal ones, not company ones), but decided not do cause I thought I'd have to manually do it. This would be a great way to fix that!

most of the formatting worked out pretty good with the transfer between the two sites. I did end up going in and doing some editing on the steem side. They are continuing to work on the bugs.

This is interesting @ shadowspub but I haven't posted on any of my wordpress blogs for sometime now. I'm not sure I've got the motivation to start again, having just gotten into a nice rythm on Steemit. 😊

that may work for you. I like the idea that i can organize my writing so older writing can be found. Also with Steem paying out at 7 days, the material doesn't currently have a way of being monetized. On a blog, ads for example can be used. Just some thoughts. Not everything works for everyone

I have heard about WordPress before and about it is basically the place to go if you want to be a blogger. I mean besides Steemit of course. hehe

But, now that they are working on a way to connect it all basically into one it makes it even more encouraging for me to try. :)

Thank you for the info, my friend. Have a great day. :)

Now you have me thinking about old blogs of mine LOLL

LOVE you emoji :D but you know that already LOLLL
