Stone Sculptures around the 40th Anniversary Pavilion

in steempress •  6 years ago  (edited)

In the previous post, I introduced the pavilion and the entrance structures located in the center of Seoul metropolitan.

One thing interesting was there were lots of sculptures around the pavilion. The sculptures were animals. Some looked imaginary, and some looked real animals. It seemed that the discipline of displaying sculptures was not so consistent. In my guess, it was closely connected with the fate of the falling dynasty.

Below are the photos of carvings around the pavilion.

Tiger sculpture was as same as Minwha which was drawn by ordinary people.

folks were passing by without any feeling

Even though this pavilion is very unique in its style, people did not notice the meaning of this building and the sculptures.

These stone sculptures really are very painstakingly done by artists that really are very creative and talented @slowwalker :D

@slowwalker,
I think that imaginary animal in that sculpture is a lion! I don't know whether I am right or wrong, but I feel like that! Great photography of these precious stone sculptures!

Cheers~

There are lot of imaginary stone animal sculptures in the center of Seoul metropolitan. Turtles common design to Korean's history. Tigers seems like mystery. However old peoples made it amazingly. Beautiful photos collection with well explained @slowwalker.

Really beautiful your own blog.
I wish you much success with it.
A clear resteem.

저 호랑이 상은 정말로 민화에 나오는 호랑이랑 매우 비슷하네요.^^

this animal statue can be a symbol of the guardian of the life of the world. An imaginary picture of life after death. especially if we associate with life after death and reincarnation can make humans dwell on animals.
I do not know for sure, but this can be a reflection so that in our lives we still have control over emotions and passions so that we can escape the characteristics of animals.
Thank you @slowwalker
Warm regard from Indonesia
