I went on 12 week "maternity" (Family & Medical Leave) leave at the very last outside-of-the-house job I had 11 years ago. When I called my supervisor to say that I had been doctor-cleared to return to work, I was told that my position has been dissolved, the entire office restructured, and that if I wanted to remain in their employ, I would need to basically start over in terms of scheduling and seniority. With 2 small children, and a husband whose schedule could change from day to day, it just wasn't possible. I had no recourse, no line of action, and no advocate.

Yeah, it is way too easy for employers to follow the letter of the law and violate the spirit of the law. It makes me so angry 😖
