For the hectic and complex life I live, there is nothing that soothes my taste buds more than a glass of red or white that is just as complex. With so many wines to choose from, I decided to select a wine that I knew would have the complexity I was looking for. You'll understand by the end of this review.

The pioneers of California wine production had a desire to pay tribute to the heritage of Bordeaux wines. The brilliant idea resulted in the creation of a bordeaux blend called a Meritage (rhymes with heritage). Please do not pronounce the word with a pseudo-French accent, i.e., rouge. Say it with me: "me-ri-tage". Awesome!

Now, a Meritage red wine blend generally consists any combination of five grapes:
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, St. Macaire, Gros Verdot, or Carmenère. Talk about complex!

I decided to open a bottle of Arrow Creek 2013 Meritage. Immediately I was taken back to when my great-aunt use to make preserves and jams out of figs. The aroma fought with the smells of my food, being strong; nonetheless, refreshing. I prepared my spicy, tasty turkey meatballs with a side of kale and spinach tossed in walnut oil and tomatoes. If you haven't read my previous wine review, my food has complex flavors.

Complimenting the jammy aromas of the wine, I tasted nuances of blueberry, caramel, and subtle hints of blackberry. The composition created a velvet coat on my tongue, further proving that this wine had some medium tannins.

Although the average price of Arrow Creek is $35.99, my local Kroger sold this at $22. I was not disappointed. Neither will you, my fellow Steemians. Remember, drink responsibly!!

You really sold me on this lol i love red wines. Recently went to the hill country and even though there were a ton of vineyards we went to a tasting for "fast ass vineyards" and their red wines were soooooo goood!

Please, please go to Kroger's and buy this wine. You will not be disappointed.

I love California wines , but I haven't tried that one yet but I most definitely going to try it !!
