SteemQ needs a new name. I have been brainstorming for better name ideas with friends, and while we have some good ideas, we haven't conjured up a great name yet. I am thus turning to crowd wisdom for help.
What is SteemQ about?
The goal of SteemQ is to build a video platform on STEEM. We believe there is a better way of connecting content creators with their audiences, as well as monetizing content in a way that is not tied to the traditional advertising model.
Contest
The goal of this contest is to come up with a new, better name for our project.
The name can be a made up word or something witty and clever. It can be somehow loosely related to what we are about, or not at all.
Guidelines:
- should be easy to pronounce/remember
- should be available to register as .io or .tv
- ideally, .com shouldn't be taken by an established company
- can not contain the word STEEM
- can not be infringing on an existing trademark
The winner of the contest is whomever suggests a name that we end up using for the project. You can suggest as many names as you like.

^Neither .com nor .io appear to be owned by an established company. Rationale: IIRC any video uploaded will essentially be out there on the internet permanently, correct? It's fully decentralized (links, hash etc. in Steem blockchain, video in a decentralized medium)?
If that's the case maybe the name should focus on the permanency of it, given that is the main feature vs. centralized competitor platforms.
The alternative is to focus on the censorship resistance. Financial rewards are good but it doesn't differentiate from YouTube, at least the rewards aren't high enough yet.

How about Vapor? Go viral and turn your Vapor into Steem. It's easy to pronounce, 2 syllables (2 or less seems best IMO), and plays well into the "steam" metaphor. Also it starts with a "V", so a corollary to Videos is easy to make.
Only downside is you'd need to get creative with the domain name. You could probably buy vapor.tv but vapor.io is in use by a "Cloud" company.

Adding "tube" to the name can remind peoples that a site is video sharing site. Although most "tube" sites targets mature audience which means that a brand/domain that has a "tube" on its name can leave an impression that it's a porn site, this can certainly help attract a lot of attention not only from mature audiences but also the general audiences because youtube, non porn site, is still the biggest "tube" site.

I think that "steemit" is a pretty decent place to start. so good work so far on that. I don't really think these are particularly good ideas. I just like to stir the pot a bit!
Steam as a root has a lot of great meanings and connotations for community and general quality of life. Steam rises above, moves around, and travels well, and hopefully the price of Steem will do some rising as well. Steaming is a healthy food prep technique. Steam baths are revitalizing and communal. Steam as a source of power was quite revolutionary. Steam as a way to clean sensitive garments. The one connotation i'd avoid would be the type of steam that comes out of one's ears when they are irate. SteamPunk is just the coolest neo-classical victorian era that never existed (Firefly much!?)
