Steem Dollars - Fluctuation Makes no Sense

So the Current price of Steem is $ 1.03646974464 USD.

Now I have been watching it during it's roughly fifty cent fluctuation. What I do not understand, is when it goes down, sometimes my account is worth more. For a minnow like myself, I have seen a 2-7 dollar fluctuation in my account value. But Steem is still down for one, for two, now each time I check my wallet it's worth drops a dollar or two. But Steem is not changing.

I assumed The Steem Power fluctuates with the price and affects my account. I can not make sense of it though. It in theory should be doing the opposite of what it has been. Anyone else notice this, and possibly make sense of it?
