Cereal, soy milk, coffee, maple syrup, coconut oil, and nuts all save more than 50% compared to Stop & Shop's prices, making the pantry section of Trader Joe's almost entirely cost-effective.The prices of coconut oil and coffee, in particular, are so untouchable that one has to wonder if TJ's has made a deal with the devil himself.
It is important to note that Stop & Shop seemed to be on par with TJ's only in the category of deli cheeses. Both sliced Muenster cheese and shredded cheddar cheese were actually less expensive at Stop & Shop than they were at TJ's.Despite the fact that TJ's had a price advantage in both instances due to the smaller sizes offered by Stop & Shop, it stands to reason that for products with shorter shelf lives, such as cheese, the smaller package might be a more advantageous purchase regardless.
