Platinum or silver? if you could afford either.... Choose only ONE!

This is an interesting question, do you collect for saving your cash in precious metals? Or do you collect for the looks, feel, weight or beauty? Would you like to have one of these Platinum coins from Apmex (https://www.apmex.com/product/52/1-oz-platinum-american-eagle-bu-random-year-1997-2017)

Coming in at only 1 Troy OZ and a cost of around $1130.70, this little bugger is a pile of cash in the palm of your hand....

But is it worth just buying one coin? or would you rather buy Silver? you could get a little under 60.5 Silver Eagles for the same price from Apmex (https://www.apmex.com/product/23331/1-oz-silver-american-eagle-bu-random-year)

If you are buying in bulk of course......

So what would you prefer? Having one coin the same color as the silver ones, that could be interpreted as silver by someone that doesn't really know their metals. Or would you rather spend your hard earned fiat on a massive collection of a beautiful mixture of art entombed in Silver?

Personally I would love the hunt for 60.5 different 1 OZ silver coins, instead of the 1 Platinum. Being able to show my actual "collection" to others, making them drool as some of you have done to me. My savings will be in silver, How about YOU?

I would go for the silver. But I must say Platinum seems to be grossly underpriced.

Spot On, but maybe not for the right reasons?
GSR being 80:1 makes Silver the clear winner. All these stupid quotes about "too bulky to store" yada yada are just plain BS. When we resume a more normal GSR you will be glad you have all the BULK!

AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO AFFORD A DIESEL RIG TO HAUL THAT "BULK" :d

It's going to go up so much faster than Gold AND Platinum that you will be sorry you overspent on the Platinum. $100+ Silver by 2026 ;) MINIMUM...

Gotta get that Silver while the price is down 😁

Platinum has historically held a Premium to Gold of about $250, and currently $341 below the price of gold and interestingly, $27 below that of Palladium.....So this is telling you that Platinum is a screaming buy.....but, silver is currently hovering at about an 80/1 ratio to gold. It all depends on your outlook, your ability to stash silver, as it is bulky wealth, as gold & platinum is concentrated wealth.

"Buy as much Gold as you can afford, and as much Silver as you can carry." @rollingthunder quote

Thanks for stopping bye, interesting facts. But I personally will still buy for beauty/$ over weight/$.....

I have to remember, I have 5 kids, they should appreciate each getting a pile when I pass it along....

Appreciate your commitment and patience to support a large family and stack, you da MAN. Don't forget to stack generic rounds, which will be required for barter, when the SHTF scenarios. There may be a time, some day in the future when Silver will be OVERVALUED, which will be the time to transfer this wealth to other Undervalued assets, such a real estate and other cash flow positive income streams.

I plan on mixing up my stack, beauty and weight for trade/fall back cash. I also plan on buying some Silver casting grain, to hold a little, and play with the rest (pour some stuff myself)

That would be awesome to melt a kilo bars and pour some original casting.......Have fun, that is the name of the game.

Definitely fun times ahead, learning so much from the SSG community

This is some interesting intel. Seems like now is the time to pick up that platinum ring I've always heard chingy rapping about.

I would like to not have to choose I love it all so much! I really want at least 1/10oz of platinum this year 😀

In the beginning (right now for me) I will stick with silver, maybe when i become a dolphin i will spread my horizons...

I'd definitely prefer to be able to afford gold! But so far as it goes, I'm lucky to be able to afford silver. At my rate.

According to @rollingthunder the ratio is 80/1.... Perfect time to stack silver, exchange later when the ratio goes near 40/1....

This depends on your current stack. If you already have 60+ ounces of Silver, then I would suggest the Platinum.
I know some stackers started buying fractional gold coins after the silver stack got to 200+ ounces.

I plan on getting at least 100 OZ's before I start mixing it up. Besides the house my wife and I plan on buying in the next year or so.

We LOVE platinum, palladium, silver, gold..it is all good and we buy some to stack and some beacuse it is pretty. It is always a good day to buy
