Indian Chief Silver Rounds

The two Indian Chief 2017, silver coins I acquired were gifts from Christmas 2017. I was pretty ecstatic considering I am Native American and these two coins looked me in the eye and it was love at first sight. If you know the feeling of true love then you get my drift. The crossed tomahawk detail is an added kick-ass bonus!

A little bit about the coins is that they are minted out of the Osborne Mint. Who are they you might ask (if you are a new collector)? The Osborne Mint claims to be the oldest mint in the United States way back to 1835. According to their website the mint owns tools for historically significant coinage and a long history in producing coins.

Back to the Indian Chief coin, they are part of an Old West collection called the American Western Skulls Collection, and the mint has chosen to revive with a limited mintage of 500 coins.

The front of the coin depicts the Indian Chief and the back features the fried eagle. You might be wondering what the fried eagle means, I did too. Funny enough, it was the Osborne mint that coined this phrase to the Heraldic Eagle. These coins in particular show us the great skeletal design of the eagle on reverse.
