Denarius of Roman Republic P. SERVILI M.F. RVLLI 100 BC

This ancient coin was my first silver coin purchase. I just think it's kind of cool to hold a coin in your hands from over 2000 years ago. It's a silver coin called the Denarius. It's value back in the Roman days is not exactly known, but historians think that it was probably around 3 days pay for a soldier.

It makes you think who got this coin and what was purchased with it back in those Roman times. What hands has it passed through, the mystery behind the history.

Now, that's a Beauty! I have a similar ancient coin stashed somewhere.

"3 days pay for a soldier" - just goes to show the level of manipulation in the silver market.

1oz of silver now is around $20.50!

Who works 3 days for $20.50 ? Silver is being artificially held down in value.

I completely agree, that's why we need to buy and hold. These artificial low prices can't sustain forever.

A Super Coin @grizzman :)

Thanks!

Their is a lot of detail in that coin very cool and its a piece of ancient silver!

It's got nice detail for being so old, thanks for stopping by!

If it is ancient, please post where you acquired this coin. Thanks.

Cool coin. Love the ancients!

Wow that's an amazing coin. I don't have any ancient pieces cuz I usually don't like them since they seam to worn down, but this has amazing details.

beautiful coin! i was lucky enough to dig up a denarius of emperor hadrian with my metal detector, crazy imagining the history of where its been and how it ended up where it did :)
