Ok fellow silverbugs. I'm looking for some input here.

I'm considering buying one (and only one) of these bad boys.

I'm looking for some input if anyone has one and if you think its worth it.

Pros

  • Its made by a reputable mint
  • Its 100 grams
  • Its easy to divide into smaller pieces

Cons

  • Its expensive
  • Its way over spot
  • Its expensive

I can see the benefit of fractional silver. Especially when silver goes to the moon if they ever quit manipulating the price. (thats another post)

Its just hard to swallow the premium price.

But I wouldn't mind having one in my safe just in case.

Here is a good question

CombiBar Vs Junk Silver for SHTF Scenario?
i.e. trade and barter scenario.

Let me know what you guys think.

It may be a signal that SILVER is about to be released from the manipulation and finally be traded at it's true value, at least 9:1 to GOLD. For investment I would say no, for an oddity piece, yes !!!!!!!!!

I don't think its gonna be released until something bad happens. Like the collapse of the dollar. Or people just completely lose faith in fiat and the Fed. Or hyper inflation. Who knows. I'm gonna stack more though.

I'm a collector and they are cool, I have one just for fun! I just buy whatever I like though and I'm a pretty poor investor.

Dammit! I set out to be a stacker not a collector. But that lasted about 2 months.

Now this is me.

If you like it and want it I say get it! If silver increases a good bit you've "made" the premium back, if if doesn't you can still probably resell it for most of the premium you paid or just hang on to it because it's cool, haha.

True if silver moons the FOMO folks will be snatching up whatever they could get their hands on.

I wouldn't buy one. Fractional silver is just a hacksaw away with a regular generic mint bar. But I must admit, they're pretty cool.

I do have a hacksaw and a scale......

This is a great topic. I just talked to a few students and @vegansilverstack today about this in our investment club. I refuse to buy them, even though it is a great gift. Unpractically expensive!

Man I am glad the younger generation is looking at precious metals. Millennials get a lot of shit but not all of them are retarded. If I had bought gold back when I was your age I would be sitting pretty right now! lol

I'm about 20/80 right now on buying. The more comments I read the more I think I'm gonna just buy rounds.

I love your terminology! Haha. Not all of them, but a lot. Haha. I'm unsure about gold because of how high the price is. I like the idea of silver though. What are your thoughts?

Hah! I meant that as a compliment.

Uhmm....I'm no expert. But. Its pretty accepted that silver is seriously manipulated to keep the price artificially low. Way more so than gold. Why? I dunno. Maybe there is more people with actual big time capital in gold and they can't get away with it like they can in silver.
The silver/gold ratio is currently 76:1 meaning 76 oz of silver to buy 1 oz of gold. Some experts believe that ratio should historically be at around 16:1
Supposedly silver is more scarce than gold. And is used increasingly more in industrial applications.
So "when" silver moons we should see a dramatic price increase and that ratio get tighter and/or possibly invert. But all this is dependent on the collapse of fiat or the end of precious metals manipulation so might be next month. Might be 5 years.
But silver is cheap right now!

I have written 2 articles on silver in the past months that are applicable.

My dilemma now is do I invest in BTC and miss the possible gains?
Or buy silver while its cheap?
Answer: Both!
I have been taking some of my crypto profits and turning that into silver.
FYI https://www.jmbullion.com/ takes BTC for precious metals and free shipping over $100

I just got another shipment in from JM yesterday, made a post about it. Haha. here, if you want to see my collection. I have 1.5 btc right now too. Ready for the pop! Sell probably at 5200-5400 (if/when) it gets there.

That's just too costly for an actual investment, maybe only for the sakes of owning one.

Yes its cool. So the question is this; how much is cool worth to you? If you are just thinking in pure SHTF terms then its worse than coins or grams.... but it is cool!

How is it worse? You mean like bang for the buck wise?

Oh yes only in the sense of bang for your buck. Like everyone has said tho it really does look pretty cool. You've definitely got me wanting one too 😆

I wouldn't spend any money on it. 1 ounce is small enough. If 1 oz is worth over $1,000 some day just count your blessings and deal with it (-:

I gotta tell you I'm torn on it.

I think those are so cool but I haven't fully justified the premium to myself. I think any utility in a SHTF scenario would be just as easily solved with my junk silver. That being said I think those bars are really cool and I'm thinking that the premium for such a reputable company would protect itself as an 'investment' of sorts and I'll probably end up with one just to have.

I think they make it look bigger than it is. I lined up three 1 oz coins. Thats a pretty small bar for $100! I would rather have 5 oz for the same price I think.

Fair point!
