What Would Happen To Your Crypto If You Died Today? | The Importance Of Maintaining A Crypto Journal

This is a project I have recently started but have been thinking about ever since my coins have been appreciating.

Would Your Loved Ones Know How To Access Your Crypto In The Event Of Your Untimely Demise?

Use And Maintain A Crypto Journal

Make sure to include:

  • Account Logins
  • Passphrases And Passwords
  • Seed Keys
  • Wallet Balances
  • Pending Airdrops
  • Miner Details and Programs
  • Wallet Locations
  • Wallet Passwords
  • Paper Wallet Instructions & Locations
  • Hardware Wallet Instructions & Locations
  • Coin Names And Use Cases
  • Safety Deposit Box Access
  • Exchange Account Info
  • Cloudminer Accounts
  • Faucet Balances
  • Auto Voters
  • Email And 2FA Instructions For Reset
  • Detailed Instructions On How/Where To Access Coins
  • How/Where To Liquidate Coins If Necessary
  • Anything And Everything Related To Your Crypto Assets
  • Make Edits And Revisions As Necessary

Make Sure Your Crypto Journal Is In A Secure Place That Your Spouse Or Loved Ones Will Find.

Or better yet have a trusted prearranged designated person who can access your journal and execute any last wishes for you.

Crypto Journal Don'ts

  • Store This Info On A Computer Or Mobile Device
  • Leave Your Journal Where It Could Get Destroyed

Being Prepared For The Unforeseen Will Give You Peace Of Mind That Those You Love Will Be Taken Care Of

Thats pretty much it. In my own journal I have included my precious metals info and what to do with them.

I would love to hear any additions or suggestions to this list. Also comment if you have something similar below.

Thanks for reading my blog.

Peace, HM

Most of it has been moved into PM by now. Just keeping a little bit around for fun.

Don't tell me its in a coffee can buried in your yard!

This is a really good question you are taking up here @Harleymechanix
every one that has some form of value in the crypto world should at least take some precaution if something should happen to them.
I have a system that will ensure that my wife and children can get their hands on my wallet if they needed to.
Good post man!!!

Great post. Or... you can just send me all your passwords and I'll send your beneficiaries their share minus transaction, processing, administrative, storage, use, professional and handling fees.

You sound like the government...

This is sort of covered in leaving instructions on how/where to access your accounts, but I would add:

  • Teach them hands-on basics of transferring crypto and using exchanges, plus good security practices.

I guarantee if I left my family written instructions on how to do everything, they'd be too afraid of the technical difficulty to even try (granted it's not really difficult, but to the uninitiated it can appear overwhelming). Of course my portfolio is probably not worth their effort, lol.

Yeah maybe include in your instructions a person to contact who could help them move it or cash out.

You portfolio might not be worth a whole lot now......but in a year or 2 or 10...........who knows?

Very true, especially when you're holding long

Things most put off. Good reminder.

If you leave me all your coins when you die I'll make sure your cats are taken care of! LOL

If you mean the ones with Lincoln's picture on them no problem.
