[Last time...]
“It is the only choice. I need to purchase seven cannon, six twelve pounders at least. There are no others on Zanzibar who possess such weapons.” The Jinn said as he grabbed a hold of the heavy strands of gold chains about his neck, the last of his fortunes, “Your brother will accompany me. I have no quarrel with the French Legionnaires, we will be safe.”
“But will they not just take you prisoner and steal your gold?!”
“Ha-ha! I am not that naïve Amal. I will be very careful.”
Gazing up into his eyes, she then buried her face in his chest as emotion overtook her.
“Come back safe my Lord!”
“I will…I will come back safe. God is on my side now!”

[In the longboat...just north of Belle Isle...]
The currentss north of Belle island were a little strong and the crews had to pull hard to stay on course. As the shoreline grew closer, Junior Petty Officer - Sailmaker's Mate Errislravenhill’s mind wondered. She was uncomfortable having the French Captain in her boat, but she was very relieved that the Captain had decided not to hang him.
“It's a miraculoos change of heart!" She thought to herself as she pulled on her oar, “Hopefully the meeting with the Beothuk Indians would go without a hitch.”
As they came within a hundred yards of the shore, her mind moved to lighter topics…
“Ickied Sairrr, dae ye thinks th' Beothuk Indians might jist like me mother's cookies?" She asked with a smile.
Junior Petty Officer - Carpenter's Mate Ickied who was on the rudder, looked up with a grin, “Haw! Aiblins sae! Hey, hoo mony of those things did ye brin' anyway?”
“Ahh stuffed a dizzen in mah duffle, alang wi' mah powder poke!" She answered with a slight laugh.
Ten minutes later found them all on shore with their muskets ready. Junior Petty Officer - Quartermaster's Mate Andofzara moved his prisoners towards Ickied’s group, some one hundred feet north of an evergreen forest.
Gathering the ample driftwood from along the shore, they soon had a roaring fire to warm them...
The French were not one bit happy with what was happening and worried that at any moment they would be gunned-down. But Captain Filippe Bouchard said nothing, standing silent with his men, his hands and legs still shackled.
“Cut a baw of cedar Loon, an' pit it on th' fire." Ickied ordered.
"Aye Sairrr." Boy Tc4breackfast replied as he headed for the stand of evergreen trees just to their south.
Using his dagger like a small hatchet, Boy Tc4breackfast hacked at the base of a cedar bow until it finally broke free and fell to the ground. He quickly bent over and picked it up. But as he did, his body recoiled as if he had just been hit with a hard punch!
Glancing down, he saw the smooth, tan shaft of an arrow buried deeply in his chest! He stood motionless for a moment, still holding the cedar bow, his back to the rest of the crew...
Looking over, Andofzara grew impatient and called out, “Come 'en loon, we dornt haves aw day!"
That was when the boy fell forward, face down on the moss-strewn ground.
