I wasn't even aware of this (specifically) before today... and there has been a lot of discussion around these types of practices lately.
Personally, i find it fun to get an upgoat for myself and i have been given them too! Going forwRd i do plan to Blow some people out of the water with a similiar practice :)
Straight, buying votes for a contests definitely sounds hinky to me, and going forward i will definitely add to the rules that this is not welcome.
I am committed to the ideology of this site as i understand it, and i would suggest to everybody, that: just like in a screenplay, you are what you do. Say whatever the fuck you want, but what are your actions.
Further, check out Rob McKee's book "Story" if you wanna' read more about writing good characters -- it totally applies to self construction!
