Coin Review: 1887 Silver Victorian Half Crown

As well as getting into Cryptocurrency for the past 6 months, i've been stacking the real thing since 2011. I originally started buying Silver & Gold Bullion during the high spot price of 2011-12, imagine spot price was $45!

The subsequent fall off saw me progress into more of a collector and so I will show off a few of my nice pieces in a few blog posts from time to time.

This 1887 Victorian Silver Half Crown was struck to celebrate the Queens Golden Jubilee, and the design lasted until 1893. This year, whilst not easy, is not difficult to find in high grade as lots of people hoarded them at the time as souvenirs.

This was one of my better Ebay bargains, I managed to pick this up for £27 and have since had this graded as MS63+ and I think to the right seller would have a value of £150 now.

I think this was a tad unfortunate not to grade higher as i've certainly seen some rough looking MS64's on Ebay. Probably one too many nicks on the obverse for NGC's liking though.

Funfact: You could still have spent this in the UK until 1970
