Apparently stacking runs in my familysteemCreated with Sketch.

Louis and I recently visited my grandma to help her clean out her basement a bit. While going through some boxes, I happened across one that had some coins in it.

Now, I was well aware that my grandad was a coin collector. He's the one that introduced me to the hobby as a young kid, and he helped me fill my first blue penny book. But I was not aware until this visit that he was also a bit of a silver stacker. Alongside some proof sets from the US Mint and commemorative coins, I found Peace and Morgan dollars, Walking Liberty, Franklin Halves, and pre-65 quarters and dimes. It appears he had the foresight to keep his silver rather than spend it. Also found some Canadian pieces, which I'm partial to.

It was an amazing glimpse into part of the story of a man for which I have a great amount of respect. He's been gone for 20 years now, but I can still see him working in his garage and his garden like it was yesterday.

A couple shots of a small bit of his stack, alongside my pocket piece, below.

It is great, you have some of you Grandparents' wisdom.

So cool! And the same floor tiles that are in all of those old houses.

Very cool!

nice find man! that's very cool to have some coins from the family like this.

A wise man! That small stack would be enough to help weather any storm.

Nice tribute!
