Bicentennial Sterling Silver Ingot - Boston Tea Party

in steemsilvergold •  6 years ago

I picked this up at my LCS recently. It's not really the type of thing I usually go for, but the price was really good, so I bought it. It was issued in 1973, and is the first in a 70(!) part series. It weighs roughly 1 and 3/4 ounces.

The front side shows a scene from the Boston Tea Party. The detail is really nice and it seems to be a good quality pressing.

The back side is pretty plain.

Here is a close up of the writing on the back.

It's a pretty nice piece. I wasn't able to find solid mintage numbers, but I think it's safe to assume there were a lot of these produced. I don't think it's worth a ton more than I paid for it, but it's another bit to add to the stack.
