This is another 20 gram bar in the same series I previously mentioned. This one features Osceola of the Seminoles. Osceola is a bit of a controversial figure in American history. He was imprisoned for being disrespectful to a US agent, and most historical accounts agree that at this point he began plotting his revenge against that agent.

He subsequently shot and killed that agent, which helped to push the country into a war with the Seminoles. But he's probably most remembered for being captured under false pretenses. An American general flew a white flag of truce, tricking Osceola and 81 of his followers into coming to a fort for peace talks. Upon arrival they were all imprisoned. This is generally considered a pretty disgraceful chapter in American military history. Osceola died in captivity 3 months later.

This bar series is really great. Though poor Osceola is looking pretty shocked in this image. ☺️

Yeah, they probably did this engraving right after they dropped the white flag and pulled out the blunderbusses.

D’oh! 😂🤣

Damn that's a crazy story. Do you have a Coin shop in TC? If there is, I'll have to check it out when I'm up that way this summer.

Yeah, there's a place in TC called C&C coins and collectibles. That's where I go most often, but frequently don't find anything I'm too interested in, because their inventory turns over really fast.

Then in actual downtown TC there's a place called Wilson's Antiques. They've had some good stuff lately, but are a bit more expensive. Still reasonable though.

Then South of TC there's Honor Coin and Stamp, by Menards. They usually have all kinds of oddities and interesting silver, but they are the most expensive in town.

Say, whats on the other side of this bar?

This is part of a series I've been posting about and all the bars have the same back. You can see the back here: https://steemit.com/steemsilvergold/@methus/chief-joseph-silver-bar

Thanks, missed this blog therefore missed the series context.

No problem. It's a really great series and I was very excited to grab it. Thanks for checking it out.
