Latest Silver Pickups

I recently picked up a set of ingots that I'm particularly excited about. When I went into the LCS recently, I almost walked out with nothing because there was nothing in the generic silver bin. but then these caught my eye and I thought I might as well at least ask what they wanted for them. The answer was the same as generic by silver weight, so I jumped on it.

So tonight I'm showing off the first in this set, created by The Silver Mint. Each piece is 20 g, so a bit smaller than a normal 1 oz bar. It's a numbered set limited to 5000, but of course there are probably fewer than that in existence today because of the great melts that have happened over the years. And even fewer in existence with the case intact.

The first piece features Chief Pontiac from the Odawa tribe. Pontiac is a pretty important figure in the pre-States history of the great lakes region. He basically orchestrated a revolt against British forces occupying forts all around the region. He was key in uniting several tribes to this effort and they dealt a pretty serious blow to British forces, weakening their stronghold on the great lakes region in the 1760s. And we all know where that lead in the 1770s. So while he wasn't directly responsible for the creation of the United States, he definitely was a thorn in the side of the British forces. Michiganders, and all those from the great lakes states certainly owe him a debt of gratitude.

So it might be obvious, but can anyone guess what this series is, or recognize this piece?

Excellent bar @methus!

Nice find. And nice little bit of history too. ☺️

I'll tell you what @methus, your LCS is a freaking gold silver-mine! Love the vintage and out-of-the-ordinary stuff you keep showing.

Another awesome score and a cool weight!
