# 481 - Canadian Commemoratives - Part 1

in steemsilvergold •  5 years ago  (edited)

Today we will start a very long series of Canadian commemorative coins.

Some will be individual coins and some will be part of a series by Royal Canadian Mint.

The first will be a 2006 $1, the Medal of Bravery.

The Canadian Medal of Bravery was established in 1972 and is awarded by the Governor General of Canada in recognition of "Acts of Bravery in Hazardous Circumstances".

The coin weights 25.172g (0.809oz) with 99.99% silver purity and Proof finish. Its mintage was 8,343 units and the issue price was $54.95 CAD.

Hello @ronaldoavelino!
I been following your account for more then an year now and i have to admit you have an amazing and impressive collection, by far the biggest i ever sow...
The box of the The Canadian Medal of Bravery really grab my attention as last month i took as well two coins from Royal Canadian Mint. Really love the way the are boxed and i my case they came with a black cover as well..
I took one from 2005 - Tall Ships Series (3 - Master Ship) and the other one also from 2005 National Parks - Pacific Rim, and i think next week i will add two posts about them. Took as well some American Eagles and some Canadian Maple Leaf and if i will have time i will add some posts about them as well...
Anyway i really love the way Royal Canadian Mint is showcases the coins and how nice the boxes are plus the certificates have all the info.
Take care and keep on stacking!

The Royal Canadian mint certainly has a extensive program designing commemorative coins for other countries as well. Numista documents on their database the various variety of Canadian coins covering a wide range of topics such that it would be difficult for any individual Canadian to complete. I have yet to complete just the quarter dollar collection in its entirety.

Please show us your quarter dollar collection.

This is the first of many posts that I will write about the coins that I bought last June, when visiting my daughter in Toronto, Canada. I bought more than 50 Canadian commemoratives, with many complete series. One of the series is the 2005 National Parks (four coins). I don't have the Tall Ships series and I can't wait to see your article.

A medal of BRAVERY! It gives me goose bumps!

It is a civil, not military medal. Canadians think about everything.
