Continuing with our series showing the $1 Canadian commemoratives, we will see those issued in 1985, 1986 and 1987.
Each coin weights 23.3g with 50% silver purity. They were issued in Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated finish.
The first is the 1985 "National Parks". This dollar commemorates the 100th anniversary of the important part of Canada's heritage, the National Parks. The reverse shows a moose standing in a pond with mountains and forest in the background.
Now we have the 1986 "Vancouver Centennial". This dollar commemorates the 100th anniversary of the founding of Vancouver and the arrival of the first trans-Canada train in Vancouver. Canadian Pacific Engine No.371 was the first to arrive, in 1886.
The third is the 1987 "Davis Strait". This dollar commemorates the 400th anniversary of John Davis' historic expedition in search of the North West Passage.
