My 1st silver buy

in steemsilvergold •  7 years ago  (edited)

Good afternoon fellow stackers and collectors. I wanted to share with everyone, what my 1st silver purchase was and why I decide to do this.

Well when I started stacking last year, I had a lot to look at, my dad was in the process of setting up some excel spreadsheets for his stack and he had all of his silver spread over the dinning room table.

Although I love how the 1 and 5 oz bars feel in your hand, it wasn't enough for me. That when I got a clumps of his Morgan silver dollar. That's when I knew that I was gonna be a Junk stacker. I live the history behind junk silver, I also love the worn down look and feel.

Here is my 1st silver purchase I made. I happened to be at the local coin shop with my dad, normally I would just wait out in the truck but this day I wanted to go in.

Ended up picking up 3 half dollars and the gentleman at the counter was so nice he gave me a silver dime for free.

Got 2 Frank's and a Walker and of course the dime was free. About half of my total silver is in junk silver, my dad was lucky enough to get some Canadian Silver coin, I think this year I will try to add some Canadian Silver dollars to my stack.

Thanks for reading, what was your 1st silver purchase and why.

Have a good night.

Peaceout---sidewayzs13

Hard to go wrong with junk silver!

I think my first silver buy was probably an old Morgan or Peace dollar can't quite remember. But when I started stacking again around this time last year my first buy was some junk dimes and quarters!!

Thank you for the comment, i love my junk silver. each piece has its own story to tell.

Well said - hard to go wrong with junk silver. It just has some character!

Nice pick-ups, those coins are some of the best price fraction silver out there. Keep stacking.

You don't have to call it junk, Constitutional silver sounds so much nicer. Also, is @raybrockman your dad? He kinda runs this place. Anyways, welcome to #SteemSilverGold! Have a hearty upvote and a follow!

thanks for your comment, You are right Constitutional does sound better. Em, Not sure If I can answer your question (he Is). Thanks for the upvote, I will follow back.

You'll do just fine around here, and you have the best teacher around at your disposal!

Great post little buddy! 👊 Your dad ROCKS! Excellent grabs from the ol' LCS! Cool free dime too! 😎 My very first order of silver was 30 generic rounds from APMEX in jan. 2016. Spot was in the 13's when I started! 😄 See ya next time!

thank you. I have not ordered from Apmex before. I will have to look into them.

Nice, way to go! The first silver I ever had was junk silver, it wasn't until much later I stayed getting rounds and bars.

thanks for the comment. I think I am ready to start getting some more rounds and bars

Nicely bought! I am an historic silver stacker as well! There's a few of us here, that prefer junk silver to bullion! That walker is really great. Well done.

Cool name ! Yeah I love my Walker. That is My favorite Piece. Thank you Sir.

Great pickup @sidewayzs13 I'm another historic "Constitutional Money" silver stacker as well. There's something nice about the old coins and their low maintenance.

Nothing wrong with some junk. Good post, keep it up they may just let you in🤣🤣

Into Steemsilvergold. You just can't show up and all of a sudden be in.

wait, what do I have to do. Is there like a initiation.

Well to start, you have to send each member 1 oz of silver. Once that is done they will think about it.

🤣

Bah ha ha!!! Yo sidewayzs, i’ll second your bid!

The Walkers and the Mercury Head dimes are my personal favorites. Keep stacking!

haha Thank you Sir. I have seen a lot of your stuff come to the house, I dont have any yet, but i am tryting to get dad to give me a Piece. by the way its was his camera

How does the silver being "sunk" affect it's value? Does it make it harder to trade/sell?

I just bought my first collectible silver. Only got a small amount, but it's my start!
I just wrote an article on it if you're interested. Won't link to it as I think that's rude to link on others' posts. ;)

@sidewayzs If you go over to my latest BLOG @stokjockey that welcomes @hodgetwins to steemit where The Lady of the Bunker gives them a Shout Out. Right Under the Video is some instructions on how to get a Full 100% Up Vote from me.

Look out for the war years, the silver content is less then 90%. I think it's 50% silver. Nice to see another stalker!
