Engelhard - Metals Fabrication & Refining

Engelhard is where I discovered my passion for silver ingots. There was a time when that is all I would buy. There is just something about the quality of thier work! The true pioneer in the precious metals industry!

I want to present a very unique Engelhard variety. Engelhard Corp. was hired by other precious metal companies to produce silver bar's. Often times those ingot were assigned a counterstamp. That counterstamp represents the company Engelhard handled the production for. We have seen a variety of counterstamps that were exclusively produced in specific weight classes. For example, the United counterstamp was only produced on a 5oz and 10oz class ingots. I am going to present a production line that demonstrates counterstamps that were stamped on the 3oz, 5oz, 10oz, 50oz, and 100oz class. This is unique to only Metal Fabrication and Refining. Well known for the infamous MFR counter stamp.

That 10oz class MFR ingots are exceedingly rare and clearly demand a strong premium. Highly sought after!

I have yet to own a 50oz or 100oz Engelhard MFR. I tend to gravitate towards the smaller ingots. These two "door stops" are very rare! The photos I am going to provide have been sourced from www.Allengelhard.com.

It's fascinating to me that a run of MFR stamps carry through this many different weight classes. That is why I felt it necessary to publish this article. Notice each weight class maintains a mintage of 700 or less. Which is insane considering how many were probably melted over the years. I mean, imagine the value of a Morgan dollar had the mintage of less than 100? The value of that coin would be astronomical.
