New Reading Material! - "Anatomy of an Ingot"steemCreated with Sketch.

I have always found it difficult to find reliable, well documented reading material regarding silver ingots. I have seen many smaller types of catalogs. Where photos of documented examples are displayed. Often associated with a production date. There is not many resources that offer a story with in a text book.

Recently, I have been discussing silver ingots that were discovered in the Franklin Hoard. Majority of the information I have obtained has come out of a textbook titled John J. Ford and "The Franklin Hoard." This was the only book where I have seen a story that contains hard documents and depositions of individuals during that time.

Today, as I was hawking through eBay per usual. My buddy sends me a text that looked exactly like this...

A text book I have never seen before titled "Anatomy of an Ingot." It has a very similar text book landscape and style as the Franklin Hoard book. At this price it was a no brainer for me ! I paid close to $200 for the Franklin Hoard text book. As that is a collectors item in itself.

Here is a close up photo of the text book. At this time the only information I have is that it was published in 2013. It is roughly 250 pages and the authors name is Paul Franklin. Any relation to the Franklin Hoard? I'm thinking it's very possible..

Here is a photo of "The Franklin Hoard" text book for the record. I had been asked by a few people for more info on this book.

In my earlier days of collecting I WISH someone would have brought this level of reading material to my attention. I can't stress enough about the quality of content in these text books.!A true game changer for any collector, enthusiast, or history buff!!

You get all the good comments... lol... Hoards never seem to benefit the Hoarders... Well, perhaps it does... True Stackers, all of them... I suppose it's more about the Peace of Mind, the Hoard brings us... I agree that Knowledge is Power... Have a nice day...

@pocketchange I have been getting spam comments lately. Immediatly after I post. It's weird! Peace of mind is big part of living a stress free life. Have a nice day as well✌

So when starting out on my newly discovered "vintage bar" journey, is it always best to read up first or just jump in and buy what I like?

@whelshstacker Great question. I would probably first week put what it is you want to focus on. Meaning a specific refiner or specific style bar's. It's also important to understand what is in demand. I believe once that is figured out then you can start digging into the research. ON THE OTHER HAND. Research and study often leads you to what you want to buy. .

Now I just hope that makes any sense?😅

Have a great day!

When are you going to receive the book? I am very curious about what it will tell us.

It took a little while for the last one to come in. I am hoping I have it Monday/Tuesday of next week. I will share what's behind the cover..👊
