I'm going to give the silver ingots a rest for tonight. My mind is else where at the moment. Since that doesn't happen often I am going to take advantage of this and share a more personal story.
With the warmer weather on its way here in the north east. Everyone is comming out of winter hibernation! This is a great time of year here. That being said, I have been focusing on bringing home the family Dune Buggy!
This is a 1971 Volkswagen Dune Buggy. The chassis belongs to a 1971 Volkswagen Beetle. The body is a Myers Manx replica. The engine is a 1200CC Volkswagen. Inspected, Insured, and 100% street legal. These cars were available in the 60s and 70s as a kit car. They are not often seen now a days! There was a famous advertisment many years ago. It was a commericial where Elvis Presley was speeding around in a dune buggy on the beach. The main reason I am familiar with them is because my father had one when I was a kid. We uses to cruise around in it all the time. As a kid it is one of my fondest memories.
Last year I decided I was going to recreate those kinds of memories with my family. Of course my wife wanted nothing to do with me when I first shared this vision with her. BUT I ended up finding this buggy about 3 hours away from me. Drove down there with a friend. Picked it up and drove it all the way home in 45 degree weather. That trip will never be forgotten!
Needless to say, this car has brought tons of joy to my family. It's the weekend soccer mobile. The after dinner ice cream mobile. As well as the off road mobile!
I just took my son out for the first ride of the year the other day. Tell me that kid doesn't have a smile on his face! This is where my mind is tonight. Getting the car home so we can carry on...
This experience has opened my eyes to what is truly important in life. At the end of the day the only thing that last forever are your MEMORIES!!
Cheers!

Awesome. Another VW fan! Just a heads up your engine is bigger than a 1200cc. The dual port intake tells me it's at least a 1600cc. If you get me the numbers on the base of the generator stand I can tell you more. Very nice buggy.

Sweet we have some common ground! I will get back to you on the numbers off the generator fan. I was told 1200cc by the seller. I don't have a lot of experience with VW. I certainly enjoy them though! Thanks for your support!

For sure. Let me know if you have any questions about them. Been building them for years. I'm trying to ID the body on it now. If you want a little more power you can ditch that dual exhaust and get a tri-mil. Should give you around 3hp more, and that's big when you are working with 50hp. :)

I honestly don't have an ID on the body myself. Would like to hear your thoughts @vgholdingsllc. Yes, I plan on doing some motor work in the next year or so. I had a few expenses last year on it. So I am working my way to the motor soon enough. Thanks for the info! I'm all ears!

I am trying to identify the body as a Myers manx. I assume it isn't. It does have a painted over emblem on bottom of hood. Any suggestions on what to look good. Thanks @vgholdingsllc

I found a few that look close but not exact. One is the California Clipper but the hood is slightly different. The other is the Sand Winder. Here is a great site that can help you ID your buggy. Dune Buggy Archives.

Is the dashboard part of the hood when you take it off? Or can you send a pic of the dash? That may help identify it.

Buggy is at the shop getting fitted for spring. I should have it back at the end of the week. I plan on identifying it as soon as it's back. I believe the dash is fiberglass and all one piece attached to the "hood". Thanks @vgholdingsllc for the reference.
