The SWAN logo that is featured on the hallmark of the Perth Mint is iconic. Truly a universal symbol that is recognized no matter what form of precious metal it's stamped on. The modern "right facing" swan is whats commonly seen now a days. Let me show you the VINTAGE SWAN...
^ Perth Mint 10oz Type B Silver Ingots. Sequential Serial numbers.
These are examples of the most common vintage Perth Mint ingots. Mintages are estimated around 5,000. Obviously, shown here with a left facing swan! This left facing swan was believed to be produced late 1960s and 70s. The switch over to the right facing swan had to be mid to late 1980s or early 90s. I have been unable to confirm this entirely. My information is based off discussions with collectors from Australia. This vintage 10oz class is separated by "types" . Some have A prefix serial numbers. Others have different font spacing/styles. One of which used a completely different mold...
^Perth Mint 10oz Type D Silver Ingot *Mintage<100
This Type D Perth ingot has proven to be the most popular among collectors. Not the traditional mold used for the type A, B, and C. Mintage is also much lower on this Type D. Seen in serial nunbered and non serial numbered variety I would put a value on this Perth Mint 10oz class at $700- $1000.00USD.
^ Perth Mint 5oz Silver Ingot
The 5oz Perth Ingots can bring in stronger premiums then the 10oz. Quality 5oz examples have sold for over $1000.00 USD! This size and shape is very unique in compared to the traditional 5oz vintage ingots produced in the US during this era.
^1oz Perth Mint Silver Ingot
These small beauties have been seen with and with out a serial number. Very strong similarities to the 1oz Engelhard Australia Silver Ingots. Sales for these have gone as high as $750.00 USD.
Allengelhard.com has done an amazing job documenting and sorting all of the known Perth Mint weight classes and varieties. The amount of content they provide on thier site is amazing. I can't tell you know many people I have met that don't even know these Perth Mint ingots exist!! That being said I hope to follow up with a continuation showing other size Perth Ingots in the future.
In my eyes, these ingots are just begining thier journey into the hands of strong collectors. Vintage Perth Mint ingots carry many of the charactoristics collectors now a days are looking for. I expect sales will continue to break record highs. Keep your eyes out. If an oppurtunity arises, pull the trigger!
The Perth Mint has started a new policy over the last year. They are offering the public a service. Buying back all the old Perth Ingots and then MELTING them down😓. Allowing them to manufacture more silver. I believe this means the demand for vintage perth could increase overtime as availability diminishes... Good old supply and demand!

Man the vintage swan print is much clearer than the newer one. Is it just the picture? I think the oldies knew how to treat precious metal with respect :-).
Keep the vintage ones for a long time. I mean they were silver once but with the tag of vintage they are literally 'gold'. They can only become better from here on.

@hascash I don't think the swan print is clearer on the old ones. Some of the older ones can have very weak strikes. I make it a point to only buy vintage perths with strong strikes. The newer perths all seem to have strong strikes as equipment is superior now a days. I do agree that these are literally gold. Prices are trending upward on these. Still at good buy prices compared to some of the other stuff out there! Thanks for your support!

Thanks @stnwllstrtgc ! If history repeats itself low mintage ingots made now a days could carry a collectable premium. The fun part is finding the stuff that will soon become the next big collectable ingot!

@firecajun9262 very rarely do you come across stuff like this locally. I've seen it happen though. These bar's can be found on eBay, Facebook market place or even Instagram. There are strong communities on both platforms.
