Hello fellow Steemit friends! Today has been a very special day!
A package arrived in the mail that I was expecting, but the contents took me totally by surprise! The parcel came from my good friends Dixiesilverminer and Dixiesilvergirl, two very generous and wonderful people.
I was so surprised that Miner gave me this dragon simply because he knew I would like it and because it fit my channel.
He was wrong about one thing, I don't just like it, I LOVE it!!
Once again, he surprised me by telling me he was sending another dragon. This little beast wan another piece I had seen during his Friday night live pour on You Tube. It was small enough to make a great necklace and super detailed with spread wings! I couldn't wait to get it and once again surprised by his kind generosity.
He told me he didn't like the first pour, so he would redo the piece. I felt bad that he was going though so much trouble and I knew the man was busy with commissioned pours. I kept watching their live pours and never asked about the little dragon. I knew he was busy seeing all the cool pieces he had been making.
Then the package came in!
Freeing the box from the mailer, everything seemed normal enough, but in the back of my mind I couldn't help think something was off. DSM sent me preview pictures of the first dragon before he sent it. This time he handn't. I had an idea of what was in the box, but he had poured so many dragons of the same style in so many different metals, I just wasn't sure would I would see when it was opened.
With the box still unopened I found a small envelope. Inside I found two cards. One was a very nice message and I read it to the camera. I had started my video and things were going fine until I discovered the COA!
Slacker's Thunder? They sent a piece named "Slacker's Thunder?" This was confusing, but cool. I had no idea what was coming next.
Then I saw the back of the COA.
Now, keep in mind I am recording a video as I find this COA and when I see this list on the back, I totally go into shock!
I thought the package would contain a single dragon, a really cool one with spread wings and curling tail, but the COA promised much more than that. At that moment I was so surprised I almost shut down the video. I didn't know what to say.
There were seven items listed made from five different metals! This had to be a mistake, a joke, anything but what I was seeing on the back of this card! I began to stutter, my mind overload and I looked down at the unopened case. I could not believe the words before my eyes and had to see the contents for myself before I could accept what was written.
I carefully untied the natural twin around the box, lifted the lid and a new wave of shock bombarded me as I gasped the words "Oh my God! Its true!"
I may not be a pourer, but I am a member of the Mafia and know the work that goes into one sand cast piece, much less seven! If any of the pours failed in anyway, the metal would have to be remelted and the mold remade from scratch.
The there was the engineering behind the piece. Each hook, loop, the placement, all had to be calculated and mapped out for the piece to become the master worked whole that now faced me.
I was absolutely floored! Such planning, so many man hours dedicated making something so intricate. And the Miner did this for me? It was a very humbling experience, but totally uplifting.
I am not used to people thinking of me and doing things like this just because they like me or call me a friend. Usually I am the forgotten one or the outsider looking in, so this gift means the world to me. Even now, I still cant' wrap my mind around this act of pure kindness and friendship.
It is an honor to own a piece borne from such talent and creativity and I see it as a one of kind treasure that holds a grea story. It will be with me until the end of my days.
If you want to see the precise moment where my my mind gets blown, then watch the video below. See me stammer and my hands shake when I realize the magnitude of what was going on.
Thank you so much DSM and DSG! This will not be forgotten.
