Everyday (Watch) Carry

Really a watch? Yup!

I like to wear a nice watch most days, not a Rolex or anything crazy at this stage in my life, but something that is decent and keeps good time. Almost definitely an Automatic watch unless I'm really getting down in the dirt then I'll wear a Timex Expedition.

A watch is (obviously) primarily used for telling the time. However there can be instances where it can have secondary use. It can be used as a conversation starter, you comment on someones watch talk about yours etc and you've broken the ice.
It can also be used as a quick gift, bribe, peace offering etc. I have never personally used a watch for this and this is much more likely to work in a third-world country as opposed to the US or most of Europe, but it is a legitimate possibile use for a nice watch.

Apple watches are cool and fun tech to wear and use, but there's just something about an old school automatic watch that doesn't require a battery or being plugged in or anything like that to work. It just works from the motion of your arm as you go about your day. That's reason enough right there for me to always try and wear a watch!

I'm more of a smartwatch kind of guy, but I've been tempted lately to get into nice mechanical watches for all the same reasons you mentioned in your post.

Smartwatches are very cool for sure and as much as I love gadgets and tech stuff I'm not sure why I haven't picked one up yet. Mechanicals just have a little bit extra cool factor to me I guess, haha.
Thanks for stopping by!

I just got a fitbit. It was $200 all in and it keeps exact time. As well as a hundred other cool things -- i love it!

However, i totally agree with your post and would love to have a good automatic watch. Something Swiss for sure... holding out for a rolex or a panerai 😎👍

A Swiss watch (Tudor Pelagos in particular) is on my wish list, thinking it might be a graduation present to myself in a couple years...

Sounds like a good plan! And with a good plan you can achieve many great things.
Cheers!

Good stuff to have in survival pack.

Yup. I agree. I seem to keep buying mechanical watches. I quite like pocket watches, myself. But have an affinity for any mechanical movement. And that's a nice emerson as well. Nice post dude!

Thanks!
I haven't gotten into any pocket watches, but gotta admit they definitely have that old school cool factor like mechanicals do!

Thanks man! Gotta throw some silver in there to make the #steemsilvergold tag kosher!
