PirateSunday Eve with silver SKULLS and Pieces of Eight

Hey-oooooooooo! Let's take a close look at one of the nicer Silver Shield rounds (in my opinion), the Silver Shield Pieces of Eight 1oz silver round. Golden State Mint does a killer job with the Silver Shield collection, the attention to detail and the VARIETY of offerings is second to none.

For me, it begins with the frosted finish. A good number of the silver shield rounds have this finish and I think it looks great. Let's look at the details on the "skull side". Across the top is the phrase "Praedatum In Mundo", which translates into “A Predatory World”.
Here is some cool info from the GSM website:

The Silver Shield Pieces of Eight was styled after the original Spanish Dollar or Eight Reales coin. Like the original Spanish Dollar, the twin pillars of Hercules are adorned with the early manifest destiny motto of the Spanish Empire, PLVS VLTR, or "further beyond". These adorned pillars are also the reason why we have the dollar sign ($) today. For many years of early American history, the Spanish Dollar was used as the official currency of the new colonies.

I also like the crossed swords on the skull side, ensuring one sword handle on each piece (of the eight).
Looking closer at the other side we can see that each section is marked with its weight and purity.

Each section..........marked with its own weight.......as if it were meant to.......

Ahhhh, sooooo satisfying but it's too bad this silver has lost all its value since I chopped it up.
What? Oh yeah, right. IT HASN'T!! I just have some fractional silver now. One fraction worth about $7 and four fractions worth about $1.90 each. :)
Try that with your US debt notes!

You can pick yourself up one or five of these pieces of eight at the Golden State Mint

Y’Arrr Billy, you can use those fractionals for all kinds of things!

Nope, silver is silver. It has not lost it's value, @summertooth! If you do not like it in that form, it can be melted into another form!

You got it @silversaver888. I knew you would get it!

She is a Pretty Smart Lady @summertooth

OMG. Just seeing it happen again is making me hurt inside! 😂🤣😂🤣

But then your gif of the neverending senstless made it all better. 😂🤣😂😂

Are you nuts cutting that.....

No, I am certifiably AWESOME! 😂😂😂😂👍😝

It is a great looking piece both before and after! I agree they have done an excellent job with it and I can see why it is a good seller.

Now you have me thinking......Let me see what I can do with $20 and a pair of scissors. I do no for sure, but I think I might be able to make a new collectible. Fractional bills. Haha!

Let me know how that works out Seeker. 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣

Okay I think this means I will have two 50s. Haha!

Baaahahahah, you're making your own change @knowledge-seeker!

Oh man... that's an interesting visual way to teach someone about the value of silver, but I don't think I would be able to do it! I'll leave it to you! Haha!

Can I borrow a couple of them mercury dimes for a minute?

Wtf. I can't believe you really chopped that up...

Don’t try that with U.S. Bullion Coinage... The Melt Value will be a Big Disappointment...

I almost went over the end of this post which I would not forgive myself. Haha cutting it in pieces. The real ones can go up to 200-300 dollar liek this one minted in Peru that I see on ma-shops for sale

Aye, tis why it is important that a pirate can make proper change. Many disagreements between pirates as well as gentleman could have been settled more peaceably.
Of course there are other brands of Pre-scored 1 oz rounds and bars available in the market that are easier to section but that can be another post in itself.

Never every pay high premiums on fractional silver ever again! :D

hack-silver ftw ^-^/

Hell Yes Cut it Up @summertooth, Arrrgh !!!!
