What’s up Steemit, today in this series of stacking stupidity I’m going to talk about MS/PF 69 slabbed coins.
Slabbed coins I think when they’re purchased few and far between for strategic purposes can be a good thing. Things like Morgan dollars and rare coins can be a great preservation of wealth but as far as stacking goes I’m not so sure they are a good move.
So when it comes to bullion coins an occasional perfect
MS/PF 70 can be good but today we we’re talking about 69’s. A 69, IMO is one of the biggest wastes of money out there when stacking silver. Especially when The Bullion coin has a huge mintage such as these in the pics
The premium that’s paid on these pices is most of the time pretty large and there’s a buttload struck in that grade.
It’s like being in a race or something and coming in at second place. Your prize is a pat on the back while everyone is passing you to the first place guy to give gifts, Champagne showers and hot women are all over him. Truly 69 slabbed coins are pretty much a disappointment and have no place in my stacking goals.
When stacking long term it is wise to stay away from stuff like this, especially when much more can be acquired for the same price tag.
This is only my opinion and I have been enjoying what you have to say in the comments the last few days. Do you disagree? If so tell me about it in the comments below. Thank you for looking today, I appreciate it and I’ll see you tomorrow✌🏻

Agreed! I have a few slabbed Morgans in my stack, but they were given to me as part of making a larger order. I guess even coin dealers can't get rid of them, so they have to give them away!

Well some Morgan’s are very valuable but most aren’t. I own quite a few Morgan’s but I’m not sure really they fit in my stack. I’m getting to where I don’t like a whole lot of 90%✌🏻

My friend, I completely agree with you. We should have slabbed coins only if they have numismatic value. Bullion coins receive a little numismatic value if they grade 70. MS69 or PF69 coins means nothing to bullion coins.

It makes me laugh to read these. Seems like we used much the same strategy when starting out. lol. So far all the pieces you have posted have lined up almost exactly with my early purchases. Can't wait to see what's next.

I'd have to agree with the ASE's those things are mass produced and almost everyone of them will get a 69 or 70 but what do I know only slabbed coin I own is a penny

I started getting the highest grade coins affordable to me of six modern bullion coins: ASE, Libertad, Britannia, Australian Koala, Kook and Panda. I used to have them in raw form and first I decided on 10 coins which included the Maple leaf, the Philharmonic, Noah's Ark and the Turtle, just one of each. Except for the ASE, I don't stack these coins. So I thought, why not collect the highest grade affordable. The mints that make them are very reputable, and I think that it is a great collection to have. But I do not intend to go back in years. I only have them starting 2015. Thanks for showing these , my friend! Just like all of us, the first year and a half are growing up years in stacking, after which, we discover what it is that we really want. And as personal as it gets, LOL! And everyone's stack, no matter what combination of precious metals they have, are all so admirable. Sometimes, I look at my stack, and I feel like that it is a hodgepodge of metals, LOL! Keep going, my friend!

I agree with you bro. 2nd prize in a beauty contest is lame-o. Esp with massive mintage numbers — MS 70? Now there’s a different story 🍆

I agree. The MS70s are one thing, but I don't go for slabbed coins. Its like having a shirt for $20 and then seeing the same shirt with a special logo for $70. You are only buying a brand or plastic case. Good post Bear!
