My Silver Stacking Stupidity 2

What’s up Steemit, today I’m going to continue with my stupidity buys in the form of 40% Kennedy half dollars.

I’m sure most of you hardcore stackers own some of these after all...they’re silver right?! For me these are the biggest waste when buying silver for stacking.

Don’t get me wrong, when I was a newb Stacker I got excited when I found one of these in my change or got one at a bank buuuuut that’s about the end of the excitement with these.

I own about 2 rolls of these and yes not all came from finding or getting them at face value. About half of these were bought at melt😦😦😦.

These pieces in my opinion are to say the least lame as well as a drain on space in my stack. They’re 40% silver which is good and every ounce counts but they most definitely look better in YOUR stack than they do mine.
Truth is, the coin shops don’t like them and they won’t give you anywhere near spot for them. I look at Craig’s List a lot too and these just hang out on the list at spot.
It’s funny, people complain about odd weights in Poured silver but I never really hear one word about adding up 32 or 69 of these bad boys....yes bad as in not good.

When trying to be strategic for stacking long term my advice is too stay away from these unless you can get them for nothing because that’s what you’re going to get apon cashing them in. As I stated yesterday, this is only my opinion, if your sitting on a cashe of these and think you have something, congratulations! For me, they have no place in my stacking goals. Thanks for looking today, I appreciate it and will see y’all tomorrow✌🏻

Excellent points. You are right that they take up a lot of stacking space and may seem hardly worth the work.

However, I'm going to play Devil's Advocate and list a few good reasons to stack a goodly amount of Kennedy 64's

#1. They're great for introduction to stacking. At $17.00 oz, a Kennedy '65 goes for about $2. A Kennedy '64 goes for about $6.00.

#2. They make good gifts. At about $2.00 each, you can give them out like candy and it makes you look like a Rockefeller because you're giving out silver.

#3. They can only go so low!! Silver goes up and silver goes down, but Kennedy '65s will never go below $.50.

#4. Quality storage is not necessary. Kennedy '65s may be the "junk" of "junk silver", so why not treat it like junk??? Instead of keeping it in a safe or burying it in the woods, just store it in a Home Depot 5 gallon bucket. I'd like to meet the thief who's willing to make off with a 100lb bucket!

#5 Divisibility. If silver ever goes to the moon, Kennedy '65s will be on everybody's MUST-HAVE list.

Let's face it, I love all silver!!!

Hey @theB3ar... can you pour me a 40%.... nothing, lol... I don't want it either 😂🤪🦍

BWAAAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh my god I am laughing my ass off for real rn!!!

Best stay with the 90% JFKs, I think . In YT, many sing the praises of 40%. Many coins outside of the US have low percentages of silver and highly collectible. Perhaps in time, those will have great value. Surely when SHTF! One will not have to break a silver coin in pieces.

Dude, love this series. Hope there are not to many more posts in the series though, for your sake!
:)

Oh there’s more!😳😁

I totally agree with you brother. I took the liberty of selling mine off when Silver was at nearly $21. I was lucky to sell them on eBay, but there are a lot of newbies on there grabbing this stuff.

Nailed it again. Unfortunately I have more rolls than you, and thought I had a trade worked out a while back that has seem to fall through. They do take up way too much space and need to be exiled from my stack!

I avoid these 40% half-dollars. Are they difficult to melt? If not, transform them in a beautiful bar of yours.

I am going to have to get a roll "just cause" !!!!

yep, lame-o — especially when there’s dope-ass pours being created by the MM!

"Bad" boys 😁 Yep, not a fan. I don't think I have a single one!

Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold

I only have one I think and got that one in a GAW. I agree.
