Introducing myself to SSG

in steemsilvergold •  6 years ago

I don't even know where to start. You may have seen my posts on here about any number of random things, you may even have saw me on discord lurking around. Today I'll do something I don't do often, share info about myself.

Months ago @ssg-community was encouraging people to introduce themselves. I planned on participating but then the sun came out, summer started and I was off and adventuring.

About Me

I'm just your typical guy. Been in the Telecommunications industry for 20yrs. I didn't choose the industry, it chose me. I had no formal training and have learned everything hands on. No I don't sell phones, no I can't get you a deal on phones. I work in the main office called the Switch. Much like the old switchboard operators but this is the new digital version. We turn your voice from sound to 1's and 0's. Funny thing is I hate technology and would probably do fine as an Amish person.

Besides my regular job I have a small business, hence my name on here. I buy and sell everything from Comics to Condos. It's normal for me to have a dozen vehicles at any given time. I don't like keeping my money in the banks so I keep them in liquid assets. Need some extra cash, sell a vehicle or 2. Auctions are where I find most of my deals. I never pay over half of retail and usually make a decent profit. $2000-$5000 vehicles sell fast around here, especially 4wd trucks.

I've been with my better half for just over 10yrs. Her 3 kids accepted me and we've been a happy little family since. The oldest is now 25 and is making my a grandpa shortly. :) The middle one is 20 and the youngest is a senior at 18yrs old. The youngest is the only one left in the house and he only has a few more months of school left. Then it's party time. He will be off to college and we can start traveling.

Guess I could talk a little bit about stacking. I started "collecting" coins at a young age with my grandfather. I still have his old coins books (probably why all mine end up in books) and other coins he collected. Around 2000-2001 I read Robert Kiyosaki's book and that started my current financial journey and silver stacking. I still follow him and many others closely for investing advice. It took years to wrap my head around how money works, but now it works for me. And hopefully I will be able to retire in the next few years. By retire I mean not being stuck in the rat race and letting my money work for me. My motto is "A mans wealth is measured by how much free time he has to do what he enjoys".

Not sure what else to talk about. If you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments. Oh and here is something else I never do. A selfie of us for your viewing pleasure. This may be the only one you ever see, so enjoy it. It was really bright out, so excuse the squinty eyes.

⚡️👊😎⚡️

Thanks @thedamus. These kids made it easy. Couldn't ask for better.

Long overdue intro bud. Cheers from Texas!

Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold

Thanks for your support @ssg-community.

Now, I know why your came up with your version of a Happy Face...
I like the way you Measure Wealth by how much Free Time you have on your hands, to do what you like... That's me, 100%... Lately, I've been Up-Grading my Garden Rooms...

The happy face fits me perfect. Awesome that you are upgrading your garden rooms. You should do a post about them sometime. I also garden but now it's fall/winter and I don't have a greenhouse yet. Thanks for stopping by @pocketechange!

If I do a Post on my Garden Rooms, I'll probably call it "BUILDING WEALTH"...
If I Counted the Square Footage of my Garden Rooms, I'd have over 4,000 Square Feet of Living Space... Indoor and Outdoor Living Space...Here's one of my 10' by 10' Arbors, plus Shadow...

Very cool and the shadow makes for a great picture @pocketechange!

Nicely done VG, lucky you empty nest. Mine lives at home while going to college.....

He can't wait to go to college. Crazy part is he has no ambition to drive or have a car. I don't understand kids these days. LOL

@vgholdingsllc I like your thinking Banks don't have much of my FIAT either....

Thanks @stokjockey. I'm sure one day our thinking will pay off big.

The banks keep very little of my dough...

Haha! Your yard sounds kind of like mine! We have various old vehicles, old tractors, and other farm implements. I know I is getting into Fall/Winter now, but I still am backlogged on gardening/homesteading posts I need to write. Haha!

Heck yeah. Same here. I'm about half way done with putting a lean to on my pole barn for more storage. HAHAHA

Nice post VG. It's always fun to learn things about someone you thought you knew, if only a little, from late night discord antics.

You were part of my inspiration for this post. I said how it was nice to put a face with a name, then realized I should do the same thing. It just took a while. Now back to discord I go for more 3 word. LOL

Ha! I knew there'd be some sort of hippie vw beard thing going on. 🤘

Well hell yeah. The beard is known all around my area. Now if I could just get my old VW Bus on the road.

ok A) nice beard and B)so you can't get me a deal on a phone

Thanks @corndogg42. You have no idea how many times people ask me for a deal. I always ask them, Do I look like a sales person to you. LOL

VG! The man behind the yellow head! 😍

Woohooo! I finally did it. Been threatening you guys with a selfie for a while now. LOL

Great post. I'd love to buy a 4wd from you.

Thanks @goldrooster. I'd love to ship one to you. Actually I'd love to get one from over there. We don't have many small diesel engine trucks over here. Would be awesome to get an old landcruiser.

Nice to see your pict, the beard rocks. I don't show my mug too often but it's inevitable.

Thanks @tbnfl4sun. I figured it was time to throw a pic up here while the platform was slow.

Hey, it was fun to get to know you a little better. Now we have a slightly better idea of what you're doing when you're doing "cube life." I think your plan of having wealth in liquid assets is a pretty good idea. Time to buy more cars! :D

I've been meaning to do an introduction post for months now. Today I finally got to it. It's so hard to explain to people what I do, this is the shortest version I came up with. And yes, it's always a good time to buy more cars.....and silver!

I think you explained it well. You're a telepathic, globetrotting, freelance assassin. It was pretty clear. :)

I don't have quite enough to be buying cars, but I do have enough to get more silver, so I do whenever I can. :)

😂😂😂. That was great. Wish it were that exciting. Every little bit of silver adds up. Keep stacking.
