As the festive season draws near, there’s no better way to celebrate than with a bit of shiny inspiration! For the next 12 days, I’ll be sharing my very own 12 Days of Christmas Countdown, featuring the precious metals I’d love to find under the tree this year. This idea was first dreamt up by a long-time #silvergoldstackers community member and good friend, @silverd510, and it pairs beautifully with our annual #SecretSanta project, where members exchange silver and gold gifts anonymously. Find both original posts here 👉 silverd510 and the #secretsanta 👈 there.....
Originally designed to showcase a growing wishlist, the concept had one rule: the gifts should increase in value as the days progress, culminating on Day 12 with your "holy grail"—the ultimate unattainable piece. It’s a brilliant way to share your wish list and perhaps even give your mystery sender a nudge in the right direction. So, grab a warm drink, and join me each day as I unveil the coins, bars, and rounds I’m dreaming Santa will deliver this Christmas!

Day 2: The 1/10 oz Silver Spade Guinea – A Fractional Treasure with History
For Day 2 of my precious metals wishlist, I’ve chosen the 1/10 oz Silver Spade Guinea, a modern homage to one of Britain’s most iconic historical coins. Struck in 999 fine silver, this fractional coin combines affordability with a rich narrative that speaks to Britain’s heritage and global influence during the 18th century. Its size and cost make it an ideal addition for anyone starting their silver stacking journey or looking to add unique historical pieces to their collection without breaking the bank.
The coin’s reverse design is a faithful reinterpretation of the 1787 Spade Guinea, featuring the spade shield adorned with the Royal Arms of King George III. The shield showcases symbols of British unity and power: the Three Lions of England, the Harp of Ireland, the Lion of Scotland, the French Fleur de Lis, and the coat of arms of the House of Hanover. Paying tribute to its origins, the design also includes the East India Company mint mark and the "GUINEA" inscription, cementing its ties to a period when Britain’s influence extended across continents.
The obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II/King Charles III, reminding us of the coin’s connection to modern-day St. Helena and its partnership with the historic East India Company. These two entities, with a shared history dating back to the 17th century, continue to produce stunning coins that capture stories of exploration, trade, and empire in precious metals.
As a piece of fractional silver, the 1/10 oz Spade Guinea offers tremendous value for beginners and seasoned stackers alike. Its smaller size and lower cost make it accessible for those on a budget, while its elegant design and historical significance ensure it’s much more than just another bullion coin. Whether as a collectible or an investment, this coin stands out as a gem in any stack.
