Old skwl cool silver florins

in steemsilvergold •  7 years ago

I rekindled my love for my old silver coin collection and am slowly drip feeding you guys with some of the best old skwl #silverporn on the market. This isn't your average, modern day computer porn stuff, this is vintage black and white magazine quality stuff 🍆🍆

First up a 1891 florin:

Made from .925 fine Silver and weighing in at 11.3g the 1891 Florin had a mintage figure of just 836,438. Even in its poor condition, it's still a sought after coin and graded "fine" would cost you £30-50. It has the face of good old Sticky Vicy, with her jubilee head design (the women knew how to dress smart).

Next up a 1928 Florin:

This little star of a coin is made from 0.500 silver. It has the image of King George V and a mintage of 11,087,186. Not a lot of value in this coin grade about fine/VF and costs about £5-£10

Last up is a double team. 2 1935 florins:

Once again, King George V but with a slightly lower mintage figure of 7,540,546. Both coins grade out about fine/VF(nothing special) and have little value over spot price, on a good day possible £2/£3 each.

Hope you're enjoying my collection. Lots more to come. Let me know if there are any designs/coins/Queens or Kings you like and I'll see what I can dig out of the vault.

You've got a great collection. Very good!

I have a florin from 19th century but unfortunately it's very damaged. :(

They are still fantastic coins and a great piece of history. They'll never be made again like they were back then. So keep it, hold it, touch it, have a good look at it, but don't leave it in a draw somewhere, never to see the light of day again.

That queen looks really nice, plus for that year everything still sticks out, have you though of giving your really good coins in for grading cause it can do a lot for the pricing ....but great stash of florins, when I get to England you should put a price mark on some of them for me to buy, hopefully in the New Years when I get there, plus cheaper mailing rather than sending it to South Africa

Not to put a damper on things but I won't be selling any of my silver pieces. Ill dig out my not silver stuff and I'm happy for you to have a look at them. What do you like? Pennys, shillings etc... So

Well that’s not a problem, I like collect old coins from any country, so the list is big, but I’m sure we can talk further ones I’m there, than you can set up all the stuff and what you wana get rid of off and that

Hey these are really cool!!!! The history !! I wonder how many hands these coins have passed through. I really like them. Do you know what the coat of arms means?

It's crazy to think of the age of the coins. If only they could tell the stories they have witnessed.

Lovin' it welshie. I've got some oldies from an old collection I bought. Maybe I'll show some off too.

Please do. Be nice to see what other people have locked away in their cupboards

A very good coin. I also collect old silver coins

Thank you. It's an addictive habit. Can sometimes cost a lot of money to get the ones you need

Those are awesome! I need to check JM for some.

Thanks man. Good hunting and post them up if you get some good stuff
