Picking up this sweet coin at my LCS was a great find, according to my guy this was the first year of circulation, and as you can see it was on sale. Even got an Indian discount to boot.

The coin I purchased was grades as Very Good the design boldness allows the deeper details to remain. Despite a lack of finer details, a complete outline of the Indian and Buffalo are visible. Lettering on both the front and reverse is readable.

Look how cute that buffalo is, you can see every small detail. This particular coin is popular in year since it was the first edition.

That's all I have for you today, since I'm only doing one coin at a time and not stacks. Happy Friday!

@sweetjoy thank you my sweet!! i wanted to hear what you had to say about my meditation post. hope you had a glorious saturday. :)

Nice coin. A good site for looking up coin prices and cool facts is PCGS.com. It looks like out of the 30 million of these minted, there is less than 35,000 left. Very cool. Here is the link. http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/Coin/Detail/3915

wow! no kidding!! thanks for that site. do you think its true that there is only 35k left?

Yeah I would say it's true. PCGS is one of the most trusted sites for coin prices and facts. They have a price guide for just about everything. PCGS Price Guide

okay cool! i forgot it wasn't silver for sec ... what the ... buahahah
i almost called meself out ... hilarioussss!!! price guides are great and for a nickel to be worth that much isn't such a bad deal. i got it for a lot less too, like $3 hehe

Buffalo nickels were fairly common to find in change when I was a kid. Once in a while, a Liberty Head nickel would show up. And, at least once, a freakin’ shield nickel.

Yeah, I’ve got grey hair.😅

nice, did you collect any? i've never seen a shield nickel!! well i know you weren't around in 1913 .. hehe

I was a third-rate numismatist when I was a kid but my collection has been lost to the mists of time.

Somewhat of a third-rate silver stacker now (mostly American Silver Eagles), but I’ve picked up a few semi-numismatics here and there. Not at all focused though.

very cool and a new word for me! thanks for sharing all that sounds like you might be a money hoarder ... in plain english heehee
