Hello! New steem-powered software project here.
I am inspired by community-oriented projects so I created SteemSoftware to be a collection of functionality submitted by fellow steemians.
The gist of this project is simple:
- You request new functionality in the comments.
- I code it and publish the resulting program to our github page.
- Rinse and repeat!
All the resulting software is dedicated to the public domain.
Hints:
- The software suite is composed of independent single-purpose modules.
- Requested functionality must be concrete i.e. "Convert MP3 to OGG", "Scrape baseball data from ESPN.com to excel", "Sort numbers in text file", et cetera.
- You can suggest modules opening non-featured categories. There is always space for adding more.
Notes:
- This project is 100% steem-centric; our official headquarters being our blog in the Steem blockchain: Busy.org/@steemsoftware / Steemit.com/@steemsoftware

How to request?
Simply comment by mentioning @steemsoftware followed by the word "REQUEST" + your module idea.
Example:
@steemsoftware REQUEST Add thumbnail generator for selected directory.

Hello @skreza, the purpose is to help the community have a free programmer taking their focused coding requests. As my motto says a "community coder".
Imagine you have a need for parsing unique torrents from several popular RSS feeds. You can commission your specific requirements in a comment for me to code; then after completion all members of the steem community get the new functionality for free in the next SteemSoftware release, including those having the same need as you.

This looks very interesting to me to be honest, but i am asking myself if there are any limitations?
Is this all about "normal Software" or is it possible to request something "Steemit-Specific", too?

Regarding the limitation, I think the focus is mostly one-shot specific functionality (someone's got to do the tiny coding jobs for the community; that's me!)
If -for instance- you want code for merging the binary contents of every other file in a directory, I'm happy to take such request :)
I guess the resulting program is going to be a collection of focused modules derived from small-time coding jobs.
A strong password generator and a number extractor for text files is being added.
We're building the software bit by bit!
