Match Preview

This is the only 'Top-10 Showdown' in the NCAA this week... This match features the 10th-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers and the 6th-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes in a nighttime showdown at the Buckeye's stadiun, 'The Horseshoe' in Columbus, Ohio. Each team come into this game with a 7-1 record this year and they each need to win to keep their playoff hopes alive heading into the final third of the regular season...

Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio's one loss came two weeks ago against Penn State and since then, Ohio has struggled, at times, to put points on the scoreboard; after setting the field on fire for their first six games. Ohio State's running game is stout, with QB, J.T. Barrett and running backs Mike Weber and Curtis Samuel all rushing for over 500 yards on the season and racking up 17 touchdowns between the three! Ohio needs to have another strong game this week against a Nebraska defense that can cover receivers well and force turnovers...

Ohio's passing attack has struggled lately as the deep ball has largely gone missing in recent weeks. Although, J.T. Barrett has 17 passing touchdowns this season, he has only thrown two of those 17 in the in the last three games... Last week, he threw zero touchdowns and had only one pass completion over 20 yards against a Northwestern pass defense that gives up over 275 yards per game... I don't think it will get better for Barrett and the Buckeyes this week as Nebraska has held opponents to just 205 passing yards per game and only seven passing touchdowns on the season...

The Ohio State coaches will need to rely on their big-three once again – Barrett, Weber, and Samuel – to generate points. If they can’t get the offense running smoothly, it could be another close game coming down to the final minutes for the Buckeyes for the fourth straight week.

Nebraska Cornhuskers

Keep in mind, it won't be any easier for Nebraska... Nebraska is coming off of a tough overtime loss to Wisconsin last week and they’ll be facing a solid Ohio State defense that is currently ranked 6th in total yards allowed (295.5) and are tied for 2nd in touchdowns allowed (10). The Cornhuskers have two good rushers in their backfield with quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. and running back Terrell Newby, both averaging over 4.5 yards per carry... Ohio State has struggled at times with stopping the run, so this duo might see a lot of work in the ground game!

Tommy Armstrong Jr. will also need to be careful in the passing game as he comes into this match-up with seven interceptions so far this season – two of them coming in the loss to Wisconsin last week – and the Buckeye defense has shown that they can play man-to-man very well, already forcing 12 interceptions this season.

On defense, Nebraska has taken advantage of the experience of their upperclassmen. Their secondary has 15 interceptions on the season so far, which is good enough for a first-place tie in the NCAA. This could put some pressure on the already struggling Ohio State deep threat. The Huskers defense is also ranked in the top 20 overall and is giving up just over 18 points per game...

Despite the records and statistics, this is still a night game in Columbus... Nebraska is 0-3 all-time at Ohio's Stadium with their last trip in 2012 resulting in a 63-38 loss... The score this time around will likely be much lower for both teams.

HOW TO UNDERSTAND THE SPREAD

Support SteemSports Ultimate Vote Betting … together we all can win!

How to Play

  • Vote on the main post to enter the bet (main post rewards will also be added to the Stake Pool).

  • Cast your Vote Bet on ONLY ONE outcome for which you bet on for the win (Multiple comment votes will be automatically disqualified by the script, unvote and revote counts as multiple votes and will be disqualified).

  • After 24 hours, the post and related game comments payout to the pool; remember 25% voters rewards are deducted from the total post payout value first as per Steem curation rules. Voters are rewarded in standard fashion in proportion to their Steem Power holdings.

The Stake Pool:

  • The remaining 75% of the total payout is paid out in 50% Steem Power and 50% in liquid currencies, the latter now varies in payout ratio after the new fork. To make the process less complicated, we have decided to use all paid out SBD to buy Steem in the internal market to create a grand total Steem Stake Pool.

  • 30% of the Stake Pool will be retained, of which 15% will go to the writer/sports presenter of the post, and the 15% balance towards editing, development and advertising.

  • 70% of the Stake Pool will be held until the event/game outcome is determined.

  • Once the winning outcome is determined, we will execute a proprietary developed script that will divide and pay out the Steem rewards equally, using the Power Up method, to Mass Distribute SP to all participants that voted on the main post as the entrance fee as well as voted on the correct comment representing the winning outcome.

  • Only participants with a Reputation of 35 or more will qualify to earn SP rewards, but non-qualifiers can still vote and comment in support of the redistribution initiative.

  • Entry cut-off time is the earlier of the post payout or the start of the event.

  • @steemsports in the unlikely event that when the Stake Pool is divided up between the winners and the nomenclature resolution goes below the third decimal place (example: 0.0001), then Steem decimal restrictions won’t allow a payout and the pool will carry over to the next game.

  • Please vote responsibly :).
