The 2016-2017 NHL season is well under way and for this Thursday special edition of steemsports NHL Hockey we have a non-divisional matchup featured between the St. Louis Blues vs the San Jose Sharks .

St. Louis Blues

The Blues had an excellent season last year essentially dominating right up top there with the Chicago Blackhawks. They finished with 107 points on the season and made it all the way to the semi-finals in the playoffs when they were finally eliminated by ironically the San Jose Sharks. I'm sure that's left a bad taste in the Blue's mouth, and they'll be eager to claim as many wins against the Sharks this season as possible.

Their 2015-2016 record was 49-24-9, with 107 points. They finished at 2nd place in the Central Division

Their record this 2016-2017 season is 8-6-3 with 19 points. They currently sit in 3rd in the Central Division and 11th Overall.

Their offensive attack is spearheaded by Vladimir Tarasenko, with 74 points last year, Alex Steen with 52 points last year, and Paul Stastny with 49 points last year.

The St. Louis Blues are a professional ice hockey team in St. Louis, Missouri. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The team is named after the famous W. C. Handy song "Saint Louis Blues," and plays in the 19,150-seat Scottrade Center in downtown St. Louis. The franchise was founded in 1967 as an expansion team during the league's original expansion from six to 12 teams. The Blues are the oldest NHL team never to have won the Stanley Cup.

So Far This Season

The Blues are off to a wild start this year as is to be expected. They've been playing very well and are sitting quite nicely in the standings with no signs of slowing down. Although they did suffer a brutal defeat to Columbus by a score of 8-4, they came back solid in their last game with a win over Buffalo of by a score of 4-1. I'm sure they'll be looking to extend that into a two-game winning streak over the Sharks.

Injuries To Report

The St. Louis Blues will be short a couple of D-men this game with both Robert Bortuzzo and Joel Edmundson are on injured reserve.

San Jose Sharks

The San Jose Sharks have made the playoffs quite a few times since they've had J.Thornton, P.avelski, and Marleau leading the team, however, none of those times have they managed to go all the way and take home the Stanley Cup. The Sharks did however make it all the way to the finals last year but when it came to the Penguins they just couldn't keep up. The season looks pretty decent for the San Jose Sharks, with Thornton and Pavelski coming out flying yet again sitting respectably to the Blues in their own 3rd place.

Their 2015-2016 record was 46-30-6, with 98 points. They finished 3rd in the Pacific Division.

Their current 2016-2017 record is 9-7-0 with 18 points. They currently sit in 3rd in their Pacific Division, and 15th Overall.

The San Jose Sharks have some solid points scorers leading their team starting with J.Thornton (with 82 points last year), J.Pavelski (with 78 points last year), and P.Marleau (with 48 points last year).

So Far This Season

The San Jose Sharks are doing quite decently this year sitting in 3rd in the Pacific. They may soon be in second as well with the way the Oilers are currently playing. The Sharks are coming off a 2 game winning streak and looking to extend it even further against their playoff rivals the Blues. The Sharks had a calm cool win of the Florida Panthers by a score of 4-2 scoring the empty netter at the end, while continuing that onward to beat the Tampa Bay Lightning by a score of 3-1 in their latest game.

The Sharks will only be short (DTD) a center in Melker Karlsson this evening against the Blues.

How to Play

The Stake Pool:

• The remaining 75% of the total payout is paid out in 50% Steem Power and 50% in liquid currencies, the latter now varies in payout ratio after the new fork. To make the process less complicated, we have decided to use all paid out SBD to buy Steem in the internal market to create a grand total Steem Stake Pool.

• 30% of the Stake Pool will be retained, of which 15% will go to the writer/sports presenter of the post, and the 15% balance towards editing, development and advertising.

• 70% of the Stake Pool will be held until the event/game outcome is determined.

• Once the winning outcome is determined, we will execute a proprietary developed script that will divide and pay out the Steem rewards equally, using the Power Up method, to Mass Distribute SP to all participants that voted on the main post as the entrance fee as well as voted on the correct comment representing the winning outcome.

• Only participants with a Reputation of 35 or more will qualify to earn SP rewards, but non-qualifiers can still vote and comment in support of the redistribution initiative.

• Entry cut-off time is the earlier of the post payout or the start of the event.
